August 2024 – Newsletter for Franklinton Baptist Church

Dear Church Family,

I am humbled and excited to accept the role of leadership at Franklinton Baptist Church as we embark on this new chapter together. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your warm welcome and support. The wonderful meal provided for us on Sunday, July 14, was a beautiful expression of your love and hospitality. Thank you!

Vision and Direction:

Over the coming months, I will be spending time listening, learning, and discerning God's direction for Franklinton Baptist Church. I seek His guidance as we continue to grow in faith, love, and service.

Getting to Know You

I look forward to connecting with each of you personally, whether during Sunday services, Wednesday nights, small groups, community events, home visits, hospital visits, and meeting you for lunch or dinner. I want to hear your stories, dreams, and hopes for our church. Already, in this short time, I've grown to love you all deeply.

Upcoming Changes:

Change is inevitable, but it's also an opportunity for growth. As we move forward, there will be adjustments - new ministries, fresh initiatives, and perhaps even tweaks to our worship services. Your input matters, so please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas.

Prayer Focus:

Let's commit to praying for one another during this transition. Pray for unity, wisdom, and a deep sense of God's presence as we navigate this exciting journey together.

And now, let me share a verse that has been on my heart:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Thank you for your faithfulness and love for our church. I am honored to serve alongside you, and I believe that God has great things in store for us.

In the eternal fellowship,

Dr. Richard Childress

Blest Be The Tie That Binds

John Fawcett says there is a “tie that binds our hearts in Christian love." Hebrews 10:24-25, instructs us to encourage one another to acts of “love and good works,” ”bearing one another’s burdens.” (Galatians 6:2) For that to happen we must “walk in the light” to have “fellowship with one another.” (1 John 1:6-7) That light is God, His truth and His perfect holiness. Even as we “see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrew 10:25).

Blest be the tie that binds

Our hearts in Christian love;

The fellowship of kindred minds

Is like to that above
