Platte County Federated Women's Democratic Club
The Platte County Women’s Club met on August 8th at the Platte County Resource Center. Guest speakers were Rebecca (Becky) Nafzinger, candidate for Platte County Clerk and Sarah Short, candidate for Missouri Senate District 34. Becky said the reason she decided to run was that she felt strongly that a Democrat should be on the ballot for every position on the ballot and that her experience qualifies her for County Clerk. Sarah Short spoke passionately about the need for mental health services. She pledged to work hard in the state Senate to see that this need is met.

Following candidate presentation, the club voted on donations. It was decided that candidates for state and county office should get most of our support. After a brief discussion about outreach via social media Elisa Neilson, offered to work on the Women’s Club’s Facebook page. Since then, Elisa has started a new Facebook page for the Women’s Club The new page is private which means you need to ask to join. Virtually everyone is approved.

At the August 15th Executive Committee meeting, club officers pooled resources to buy advertisements to get “Democrats Believe” printed in local papers. Many thanks to Lee Karbaumer for her work in developing and promoting this important statement.

The September 12 meeting will be at our Democratic Election Headquarter, 7124 NW Prairie View Road, KCMO 64151 at 6:00 p.m. Changes in voting in November will be discussed by Chris Hershey, Platte County Board of Election Co-Director.
