Beat the heat with some cool programs at the Library. Adults can make a bracelet or keychain with Mah Jongg tiles, teens can crochet a dinosaur, kids can write their own haiku and everyone can go on a scavenger hunt around the Library. Don't forget to log your reading minutes (and pick up your prizes) or fill in the squares on your BINGO board.

Join us on Tuesday afternoons to crochet an amigurumi. βAmigurumiβ means a crocheted or knitted stuffed toy in Japanese. Weβll work on a new critter each month. All supplies (yarn, crochet hooks, and stitch markers) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
This month we'll be making a triceratops.
This drop-in program is for ages 13 and up, and no registration is required. Attendees should have basic crochet skills. No instructor will be present.

β | George Washington Carver: Beyond "The Peanut Man" | |
Renowned agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian, George Washington Carver was far more than just "the Peanut Man!" Born in Missouri to enslaved parents just two weeks before the Civil War ended, Carver was one of the most prominent Black scientists of the 20th century. He developed farming techniques to prevent soil depletion, encouraged poor farmers to grow peanuts and sweet potatoes to improve their quality of life, and was an early promoter of environmentalism.
Join us to celebrate the life and achievements of this incredible Black scientist!

β | Crafty Adults: Wire-Wrapped Roses | |
Join our resident artist/instructor Sara Mallach this month as we make whimsical Wire-Wrapped Roses. These sweet roses are the perfect way to use up the last drops of nail polish from summer pedicures for a stained glass effect, and they bloom all year long. Put them on display in a bud vase, nestled in the leaves of a houseplant, or tucked between the pages of a book to mark your place.

Join Master Yao-Wah Chan for beginning Tai Chi. He has over 40 years of experience teaching throughout New York City and Westchester and is trained in multiple Chinese disciplines.
Tai Chi is a series of slow, gentle, and meditative body movements that can help you reduce pain, increase flexibility, improve balance, and cope with stress.
These classes are walk-ins that do not require preregistration, but space is limited.

This program is for players of all skill levels who already know how to play American Mah Jongg. No beginners, please. Join the Library's Summer Reading Program. Register on our website, or come to the Library and we'll register for you. You can even click here to watch a YouTube video that explains how to register and log reading minutes. Read or listen to any book(s) you like and earn points to redeem for the following prizes:
- 60 points or 1 hour = one cookie from Little Bird Cookie Co.
- 180 points or 3 hours = one slice of pizza from Four Corners Pizza
- 300 points or 5 hours = one small ice cream cone from Flour Power
Please note that this year there is a limit of one ice cream per reader and a limit of two cookies and two slices of pizza per reader. You also have the option of selecting a book to take home and keep in lieu of a food prize.

The Pelham Public Library's K-Day is an annual event when Pelham children entering kindergarten can get their first library cards. This year, it will be held on Saturday, September 19.

Learn the basics of coding and explore your creativity through Scratch in this four-session introductory course designed for middle school students. Across four one-hour classes, participants will build interactive projects while learning core programming concepts such as sequences, conditionals, variables, and problem-solving through creative design, culminating in a final project at the end of the program. No prior coding experience is requiredβbeginners are encouraged to join, and activities will build progressively from session to session, so attending all four classes is recommended. Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is extreme, or if it is raining. You may call the Library when we open at 10 am to inquire.
We are excited to offer outdoor programs for children and families at the Pelham Public Library! Participation in any outdoor activity comes with some natural risks and children must be under the vigilant supervision of an accompanying adult.
