We hope you are catching the Olympic spirit as the athletes in Paris inspire us with their extraordinary performances this week. The Olympics never fail to amaze me with their unique blend of individual achievement and a culture of inclusivity that unites athletes from all corners of the globe.
I am thrilled to share the exciting news that Salt Lake City has been selected to host the 2034 Winter Olympics! This monumental event brings immense pride and anticipation as we look forward to showcasing the world-class talent and dedication of athletes right here in our own backyard.
The Snowbasin Ski Team will wholeheartedly embrace the Olympic spirit as we embark on a new chapter in our journey. We will diligently work on our 10-year plan, leading us to be a proud host of events at Snowbasin Resort. The 2034 Games will include the exhilarating addition of Freeride, as the International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) is now governed by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
This means every Snowbasin Ski Team athlete will have the opportunity to chase their Olympic dreams, and we are committed to providing unwavering support as they strive for excellence. Our team is more than just a group of athletes; we are an organization that fosters growth, community, and the pursuit of greatness.
Let us come together in celebrating this incredible milestone and prepare to welcome the world to our beloved Snowbasin Resort in 2034. The journey ahead is filled with promise, with your continued dedication and support as we host preliminary events.
Thank you for being an integral part of the Snowbasin Ski Team family. Together, we will make history.
Best regards,
Troy D. Price

What is the SafeSport Code? The SafeSport Code defines the U.S. Center for SafeSport's authority and jurisdiction, prohibited categories of abuse and emotional and physical misconduct, and the Center's process for responding to misconduct claims affecting the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement. The Center also serves as an educational resource for national governing bodies and their members.

Alpine Official Training & Recertification
October 28, 2024 ~ 5-9:00pm
| |
|
Alpine officials ensure that U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitions run efficiently and fairly by the rules. They are responsible for safely conducting the event and the accurate timing, judging, and scoring. They also play a key role in ensuring that the spirit of the sport and competition is maintained. In the end, officials are responsible for providing the best possible experience for U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes.
If you have considered playing a more integral role in sanctioned Alpine events, we encourage you to attend this training and become a member of our Alpine Officials. Racing doesn't happen without our officials and there are roles both big and small required to put on an event. The best part is that you don't need to have a racing background to become an Alpine Official, and race-day mentor training is part of the learning environment.
Our Snowbasin Ski Team will be hosting 2 sanctioned events this coming season. On March 8-9 we will host the Ray Miller YSL Finals, and on March 14-16 we host the Butch Hoffman IMD Championships. These premier events are a great way to get involved and assist our future athletes from up and down the Wasatch Front.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Officials who are certified as Technical Delegate, Referee, Jury Adviser, Chief of Race, Chief of Course, Race Administration and Timing and Calculations are required to attend an update/clinic at least every two years to maintain certification.
The 2025 documents are still in development, but our course date for Referees is set. If you know you need to re-certify as an Alpine Official this year, please save this date and email admin@snowbasinskiteam.org to RSVP for the course.
Interested but have questions? Please contact TJ Shaughnessy, devo@snowbasinskiteam.org or 630-772-8344.
