Council Legislation
All current and past legislation can be found using this link !
The Council unanimously passed CR-108-2019 which calls for a performance audit of several specific functions of the Howard County Public School System. This audit will focus on the Health and Dental Fund, Budgeting and Actual Expenditure Variance, Personnel Cost Development, Supplemental Income/Non-Salary Benefits and Procurement. Information regarding Fleet Management, Financial Commitments and Legal Fees will be shared by the school system outside of the performance audit. The cost of audit will be borne by the County, but is capped at $250,000. We hope that the findings and resulting improvements will offset the cost of the audit and be useful to us in the next budget cycle.
Mark your calendars: Valley Mede/ Chatham Stormwater Projects Update
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a community meeting on Thursday, September 26th at 7:00 pm at the Miller Branch Library to discuss the Valley Mede and Chatham stormwater management and flood mitigation projects that are in various stages of planning or construction. DPW representatives will be available to answer questions and provide an update on how the $4.2M approved in this year's budget is being used to move projects forward.

Last month, DPW held a meeting to discuss the Greenway Drive drainage improvement project. This project includes new inlets, new storm drain pipes, and repairs to the outfall channel to increase the efficiency of drainage. A start date has not yet been set, but is expected to begin this fiscal year. If you were unable to attend the meeting, you can contact Christine Lowe (cslowe@howardcountymd.gov) with DPW's Stormwater Management Division, to view the plans.
