News from American Greyhound recapping July and looking forward to August.

July by the Numbers
We brought in 1 lurcher and had 5 adoptions in July.

This makes our year-to-date totals 48 adoptions and 35 brought into the group.
2019 American Greyhound Picnic Cancelled

Every Fall for the past 14 years, American Greyhound has held a nice picnic, where our adopters could bring their pups, allow them to run with their long legged friends, have a bite to eat, and socialize with other "Greyhound People." It has been quite a large undertaking and a whole lot of work, and each year it seemed that we were always short of volunteers to pull it off.

Unfortunately, this year the numbers of volunteers were too low to adequately put the show on and we have unfortunately decided that rather than do a poor job it would be best to cancel picnic. We're sorry for the late notice.

Our plan is to revisit the picnic again next year as everyone has a great time and it's a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with some old friends and make some new ones.
Help the Galgos

American Greyhound is once again partnering with Daphne Legacy Tour to bring galgos from Spain to the US to find forever homes. There are two ways you can help us bring over the next group.

This October, American Greyhound is partnering with Daphne Legacy Tour to bring 15 galgos to their new homes in the US from Spain. As you may know from our previous fundraisers, this is not an easy (or cheap) process. Many of these dogs have lived hard lives and are in now ready to find their new forever homes- but we need your help!

The cost to bring each galgo to the United States is roughly $1,000 USD per dog. As we prepare for the dogs, we're asking for donations that will help to cover some of these costs. Any donation made, no matter the amount, is considered a sponsorship for the galgo or the items needed  You can learn more and donate here

The other way is to participate in the Firefly 14 virtual race. The proceeds from participating in this race will help DLT offset their costs for bringing over galgos. You can learn more here.
