Dear Friends and Supporters of Saint John's:

From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our deepest gratitude to the more than 1000 supporters who stepped up during a great time of need and donated to our Support the Red Door campaign. In just four months, we exceeded our fundraising goal thanks to all of you, and with special thanks to a donation of $150,000 on behalf of The Allstate Foundation which helped us tip the scales as our lead Red Door sponsor!

These much-needed funds have allowed us to keep our red doors open during this extremely challenging time and to continue to provide the life-changing and life-saving services our families so desperately need: mental health therapy, drug and addiction counseling, life skills classes, employment training, childcare, transportation, food and shelter. THANK YOU!

As they say, when one door closes, another one opens! In this case, that door leads to a new challenge for us here at Saint John’s: distance learning. With 34 school-aged children, in 10 different grades, currently living on our campus, plans are underway to create independent, safe classroom settings populated with tutors, computers and school supplies to supervise and support distance learning – an initiative not in our 2020 budget but one we absolutely cannot overlook. If you’d like to help support this new effort, please see the details below.

We are humbled and so very grateful to have you all by our side, now and in the future.

With gratitude,

Julie Hirota
CEO, Saint John's Program for Real Change
Invest in the Future. Change a Child's Life.

With moms who are focused on their own recovery from abuse, mental health and legal challenges, addiction, generational poverty and in many cases, all of the above, the 34 school-aged children now living at Saint John’s will need a tremendous amount of structure, supervision and one-on-one tutoring in order to stay on task and in step with their classmates during distance learning. We do not currently have the staff nor resources to accommodate this need, but we are working hard to ensure that our children receive the structure and support they so desperately need to succeed. To that end, please consider helping us to create our classroom on campus:
$25 Provides one hour of extended learning for a classroom of kids
$50 Provides 60 nutritious meals for children
$100 Provides three sets of headphones for children
$200 Provides five hours of individualized tutoring
$500 Provides a Chromebook or tablet
$1000 Provides 10 hours of special education, developmental learning and mental health

For in-kind distance learning donation needs, please scroll down to our “Donation Requests” listing.

Deja Vu - Christina's Story

Christina C. has been walking through the doors of Saint John’s for almost 10 years. She came to Saint John’s as a victim of domestic violence as well as her own substance abuse. Today, as a substance use disorder counselor and case manager at Saint John’s, she counsels and supports women like her former self though all the milestones of getting their lives back.
