August 2024

Seniors Scene

Enrich your life with us!

Issue 131

Greetings!

We hope everyone has been enjoying the warm weather- July sure was a hot month! Last month we shared tips on how medications and the sun can increase the risk of heat related illness. This month we are giving some insight into how polypharmacy can increase the risk of falls. We hope you find this valuable. Please let us know what you would like to learn more about as we are always looking for new ways to provide education to the community to enhance safety and maintain independent living.

We sure enjoyed escaping the summer heat to have lunch and watch “The Greatest Showman” together- It was a wonderful afternoon!

If you are new to us, lunch is served every week on Wednesdays at the Headingley Community Centre and is only $10! It’s a great way to meet new people in your own community.

On August 7th, we will be meeting at Taverna Rodos restaurant for a special lunch outing together. Reservations are made, please contact us to secure your spot. Rides can be arranged for those that need. (Please note, our regular Cafe Break meal will not be served this day.)

Folklorama is right around the corner! We have a couple of seats left on our August 8th (2 pavilion) tour bus. Cost is $65 per person. Contact us before August 4th if you are interested!

We sure have missed seeing everyone on a daily basis but we are busy planning lots of wonderful things for the fall! Please know that even though our regular programming has slowed down over the summer, we are always available to you for resources and questions. Contact us or stop by the office for a chat.

Take care,

Kristie & Margo
