Welcome to the August newsletter from Diamonds On The Key! I greatly enjoyed my New England vacation to the island of Nantucket, Newport- R.I., Rye Beach- NH, York- ME and my hometown of Boston! It was wonderful seeing so many friends, family & clients! Peridot has always been associated with light. In fact, the Egyptians called it the “gem of the sun.” Some believed that it protected its owner from “terrors of the night,” especially when it was set in gold. Others strung the gems on donkey hair and tied them around their left arms to ward off evil spirits. Some historians believe that Cleopatra’s famous emerald collection might actually have been peridot. People in medieval times continued to confuse peridot with emerald. For centuries, people believed the fabulous 200-ct. gems adorning the shrine of the Three Holy Kings in Germany’s Cologne Cathedral were emeralds. They are, in fact, peridots. -GIA.com

This worn out, damaged and cracked "semi bezel" was not protecting this beautiful & fragile emerald. Oil & polish brought life back to the gemstone & removed abrasions that had occurred over 2 decades. A new handmade 18k yellow gold bezel was created to the exact outline of the emerald, both to protect it from any future damage and give emphasis to its bold shape. The original shank of the ring, containing baguette and round cut diamonds remained intact with polishing for its gold to shine like new!

Out on the Town! Christina attended the grand opening of Secreto Gourmet in Key Biscayne! A new gourmet deli & restaurant in Key Biscayne, where the food is all natural & made from scratch. Secreto Gourmet | Website Miami Magazine kicked off Miami Swim Week in Mid-July and layers of Gold Jewelry were appropriate for those South Florida 'Sun Kissed' shoulders!
