Deputy Clerk DeVerney reports that 5,033 ballots were sent to voters that requested absentee ballots with 3,913 returned – or almost 78%.

A total of 4,789 Township voters participated in Tuesday’s Primary Election – or about 34.3% of the 14,000 registered voters.

Because there are no Democrats running for the Township Board, the seven (7) presumptive elected Township officials are as follows:

  • Township Supervisor - Mark Reenders
  • Township Clerk - Laurie Larsen
  • Township Treasurer - William Kieft III
  • Township Trustees - Howard Behm, Calvin Meeusen, Ronald Redick, Robert Wagenmaker

How to Identify a Census Taker
Census takers began interviewing households around the country that have not yet responded online, by phone or by mail to the 2020 Census.

If you receive a visit from a Census Bureau employee, the employee will present an official Identification badge that will include:

  • Their name
  • Their photograph
  • A Department of Commerce watermark
  • An expiration date

You can also look for:

  • An official 2020 Census bag
  • A Census Bureau issued iPhone

Census takers will follow public health guidelines when they visit. Specifically, Census takers are trained to:

  • Wear a mask
  • Conduct the interview outside a home in an open, well-ventilated space, when possible
  • Allow 6 feet of space between them and the person they are interviewing
  • Not allow anyone else to handle Census Bureau equipment

The best way to avoid a visit from a census taker at home is to complete the 2020 Census online.
