2021 South Carolina Swimming Long Course State Championships
Congratulations to Team Greenville for their overall team championships at both the 2021 Senior Long Course State Championships & 2021 Age Group Long Course State Championships in North Charleston. For all the results, visit the meet pages on the South Carolina Swimming website.
2021 South Carolina Swimming Zone Team
The South Carolina Swimming Zone Team competed in Tupelo, MS July 26th-August 1st and brought home the strongest performance in LSC history with a 4th place finish, 19 gold medal winning performances and the High Point Award for the 13-14 girls age group. COACHES CORNER
YMCA Columbia Swim Club will be offering a Safety Training for Swim Coaches in-water training & CPR certification class on Sunday, August 29th from 1-4 p.m. at the
Jeep Rogers YMCA for any coaches in the South Carolina LSC needing certification before the September 1st deadline as set forth by USA Swimming.
The cost of the class will be $20.

Safer in Sports Day - August 8, 2021 

August 8, 2021 is Safer in Sports Day, below are some ideas on how to celebrate with your LSC or USA Swimming member club:
Download USA Swimming Activity Books for 5-11 year olds and 12-18 year olds.
Start implementing Coaching Boys Into Men or Athletes As Leaders cards with your athletes.
  • Prepare for your upcoming season by reviewing and preparing MAAPP 2.0

South Carolina Swimming is now up to thirteen Safe Sport certified clubs.

YCSC, CA, CAT, AAYM, FAST, GVST, PALM, YSSC, SMRT, SWIM, SCSC, CAC & RAYS have all completed their Safe Sport certifications. For more information about becoming a Safe Sport certified club, visit the USA Swimming Safe Sport page or contact South Carolina Safe Sport coordinator Heather Alexander.

Clubs that are among the first 1500 nationwide to complete Safe Sport certification are eligible for the Keeping Athletes First Incentive. Clubs will be entered into a monthly drawing fro a visit from a U.S. National Team athlete. For more information, visit USA Swimming's Safe Sport Recognition page



Athlete Protection Training
All athletes age 18 & older must complete USA Swimming's Athlete Protection Training. For more information about completing APT, visit the USA Swimming Athlete Protection Training page.

Safe Sport Training Resources
USA Swimming Safe Sport staff has been hosting Zoom trainings for parents, minor athletes and coaches to assist clubs in completing the Training and Education requirement of the Safe Sport Club Recognition program. November trainings for parents, athletes & coaches are available:

USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be keeping it's athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in the sport. As a part of it's continued commitment to safeguarding our athletes, USA Swimming has enacted enhancements to it's Safe Sport policy requirements. 

Starting September 1, 2021, all USA Swimming member clubs and LSCs are required to implement the updated Minor Athlete Abuse Protection Policy (MAAPP) in full.
