SALUS LEARNS Diabetic Training

With cooperation from the Lions Clubs International Foundation, Diocese of Arlington Schools has been granted continued access to the Salus Education online diabetes training courses through June 30th 2024, and staff may begin their training immediately.

Simply forward the attached (updated) 2023-2024 Quick Start Guides to your respective staff members.

These Guides will direct staff to our secure LMS platform, where they will click the Course Landing Page Link at the top of the 1st page of the Guide(s) to access the course.

Once the Course landing page opens, staff will create their individual account (or log in to their existing account) and register for their desired course(s) free of charge utilizing the Coupon Code on page 2 of the Guide.

Click HAVE A COUPON? on the purchase page to enter the Coupon Code

Typically staff will select EITHER: the CNE Course, Non-Medical Personnel Course, or the Diabetes Awareness Training course (Staff do not have to complete all 3)

Staff members will typically select EITHER course 1, 2, or 3 depending on their role- Course 4 and 5 are available as needed for staff members who have a student on an insulin pump or CGM device under their care.

FOR EXAMPLE: A classroom teacher who has a diabetic in their classroom who uses a pump would likely complete: 2 and 4

A classroom teacher who has a diabetic in their classroom who uses a CGM would likely complete 2 and 5

A cafeteria staff member who may need to have some awareness of a diabetic student would only need to complete 3.

The “Which Training Course Do I Need?”

What Training Course Do I Need?  file can help guide staff members on which course(s) to register for:

  1. CNE Quick Start Guide to nurses (RNS and LVNs) who wish to obtain CNE credit (6.0 hrs) CNE Quick Start Guide
  2. Non Medical Personnel Training: for non medical staff who require comprehensive diabetes training to assist or augment the school nurse with diabetes related care tasks NMP Quick Start Guide
  3. Diabetes Awareness Training: (~23 minutes) for general staff: bus drivers, classroom teachers, coaches, chaperones, etc. who may have a student with diabetes under their care from time to time and simply need to learn how to recognize and respond in the event of a diabetes related emergency. DAT Quick Start Guide
  4. Insulin Pump Training: For ANY staff member who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the set up, operation, and troubleshooting of potential issues with an insulin pump (all U.S. pump models are discussed) PUMP Quick Start Guide
  5. Continuous Glucose Monitoring: For ANY staff member who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the set up, operation, and troubleshooting of potential issues with a CGM device (all U.S. CGM models are discussed) CGM Quick Start Guide

Staff members do not have to complete the training all at one time, they may log into and out of their program as often as they’d like. Once staff members complete their respective course, the system will auto generate a completion certificate for them, which they can print and file in their personnel record if desired. Staff may continue to access the courses to review material at any time during the subscription period.

Please direct any staff members that encounter issues to contact us directly at [email protected] .
