Proclamation Recognizes August 7th as Assyrian Remembrance Day in Illinois
Illinois State Senator Ram Villivalam presented a proclamation on behalf of the Illinois State Senate recognizing the Simele Massacre of 1933 as a genocide and declaring August 7, 2021 as Assyrian Remembrance Day. It is the first such proclamation in the state of Illinois, which is home to more than 80,000 Assyrian-Americans. View the Proclamation here.
