Back to School Safety Tips

August is the start of Back to School, when a large number of students and teachers return from summer break! As the new school year kicks off, here are a few tips to help you be safe.

#1 Discuss the YearTalk about the upcoming school year. Talk about what the daily routine will look like, and how they will get to and from school. With younger children, consider talking to them about stranger danger, and help them to get familiar with their teacher and location on campus.

#2 School Zone Driving – Be familiar with school zones, and be mindful for your attentiveness and speed. Monitor for crosswalks and crossing guards, and avoid texting or listening to loud music

#3 Safety at School– Know the school emergency plan, and what parent/guardian contact looks like. Be mindful of your students load, including how heavy their backpack should be, what activities they are doing on the campus. Also help them to know what things should be reported to an adult.
