Location: 25 E Hedding St., San Jose
Ages: Families with children ages five and older are able to participate in most of the volunteer opportunities listed below

StandUp For Kids - Silicon Valley has been in the area since 2008 with our mentoring program working one on one with homeless youth to make progress in their life to get them off the streets. We grew our program in 2013 with street outreach and the opening of our outreach center, The Village. The purpose of The Village is to provide a safe place for kids to feel welcome, escape the dangers of the streets, and to find support. We also address immediate needs of kids such as food, clothing, personal hygiene, supplies for out on the street, a hot shower, access to the internet for job searching, resume drafting, and overall access to things like applying for an ID, birth certificate, etc. Volunteers help with these needs and, if needed, medical care, education assistance, and transportation. Volunteer opportunities with Stand Up for Kids include
- Making and Serving Dinner at the Outreach Center
- Collecting/Delivering Donations for the Wishlist
- Helping with Outreach (Flyer Distribution)

Connect with friends and neighbors who want to keep our city litter-free. City staff will meet with you to explore the possibilities of working together to keep our communities clean and safe. We will support your project by providing your team with safety gloves & vests, cleanup bags, cleaning supplies, and arrange for the free pickup of all the trash at the end of your event. Help a Student in Need
Date/Time: Ongoing opportunities
Location: Your home or community
Ages: Varies depending on volunteer role but great for the whole family!
Time Commitment: Varies
Since 2006, My New Red Shoes has helped to close the clothing, confidence and opportunity gap for more than 62,000 students living in poverty in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing them with the basic necessities of new shoes and clothing for school. Through our Clothing for Confidence Program, we currently reach homeless and low-income students in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, and Marin counties. Beyond providing the necessities of new shoes and clothing, they strive to create a long-term impact by boosting self-esteem and confidence, providing a sense of normalcy, increasing school attendance, engagement and readiness, and improving the overall educational experience and quality of life of our community's poorest students. Each year, My Red Shoes collects thousands of new shoe donations from shoe drives led by individual donors, community groups and corporate teams. To ensure that they have the variety of shoe sizes and styles that every student requests, they supplement their inventory with wholesale shoe purchases, as needed. There are many ways to volunteer, including:
- Individual and group opportunities
- At Home Projects
- Donating Shoes or Hosting a Shoe Drive
