Maternal Medical Leave in Indiana:

What legal and medical experts have to say about returning to work

September 14, 2023 | 11:30 A.M.

Allen County Public Library, Meeting Rooms A/B/C

What does a woman’s body go through during and after pregnancy? How much time does she need to recover physically and emotionally? How long can and should she be off work? How do medical health needs align with federal, state, and employment policies surrounding maternity leave? Join us for a conversation with legal and medical experts to better understand what it means to return to work postpartum and how to best support women during that process. This luncheon is a free educational and networking opportunity for professional and volunteer caregivers invested in prenatal care, infant care, and maternal health.

HEAL Farm Markets offer bounty of produce in food desert locations

The HEAL Farm Markets are in full swing providing access to healthy foods for residents living in underserved neighborhoods. The markets, operated by HealthVisions Midwest of Fort Wayne, and supported by the St. Joe Foundation and Parkview Health, double the value of government assistance such as food stamps (SNAP) and WIC and Senior farmers market vouchers. In 2022, more than $50,000 worth of fresh produce went home with WIC, Senior and SNAP customers.

Learn more about the markets at sjchf.org and Facebook

Local WIC and Aging & In-Home Services staff, as well as Purdue Extension staff, are frequently onsite to help shoppers access their vouchers and get the matching dollars that double the amount of produce they can take home.
