2022 August Team Talk
Team Appreciation
The team gathered for some July reminders, recognition and fun! Sprinkle in some old fashion competition and the evening was a success. The long anticipated volleyball game between the Pool team and the Rec team ended in a victory by the Rec Team! During the meeting portion, the team was updated on guidelines. Pictured to right are our Team Stars of the Month! Hailey, John, Emily, Eliana, Eric, Andrew, Noah, Paul, Aidan, Dan, Nicole, Meghan, Tori, Laurelin, Emma. Missing are Sara, Kathryn and Drew
  • Wristbands have been rolled out and well-rec'd for the most part. Little bit of kickback for folks who don't want to 'wear', we suggest just keeping it with you, whether it's on your backpack or water bottle, etc. As long as you can present it that's what we need! Team must wear their GREEN silicone band when visiting and not on duty.
  • New golf cart washing/charging station is now being used.
  • As of 2023, tents will only be on the O sites. Where we used to see folks on other sites setting up small tents for the kids (alongside the primary camping unit) guests will not be able to do that any longer. When asked 'why' by our guests who would like to tent in other areas...
  • To maintain a neater, more consistent appearance
  • To prolong the life of the grass
  • So larger RV's won't encroach on the smaller cozy feeling that tenters want on their sites
  • (a benefit for us to know, but not necessarily share is that we have the ability to keep better control of where the kids are after hours)
  • Radio Pointers and Language:
  • Your voice should be clear, speak a little slower than normal. Speak in a normal tone, do not shout
  • Keep your message simple enough for intended listeners to understand
  • Be precise and to the point
  • Do not transmit sensitive, personal or confidential information
  • Bear in mind, many ears beyond your team members are listening so be polite, respectful and professional
  • Say This, Not That:
  • Say "gentleman" not "guy"
  • Say "lady/gal" not "woman"
  • Say "folks" not "guys"
  • Say "My pleasure" not "no problem"
  • Say "Let me find out" not "I don't know"
  • Say "Animal issue" not "skunk, dead bird, mice..."
  • Say "Site issue" not "bad smell/sewer..."
  • Say "Challenging guest situation" not "drunk guest/bad guest behavior"
  • Say "missing items" not "stolen items"
  • Say "Code Adam" not "missing kid".
  • Say "Yes" not "Yup"
  • Speed limit for team and guest is 9 MPH.
  • In park emergency, staff member will call or designate someone on scene to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Dispatch will want someone who is at the incident. Once 911 has been called, notify Reception Center of emergency.
  • Litter is everyone's responsibility-please pick up what you see.
Welcome Katie - Store Manager
A little about me, I grew up in the City of New Bedford and currently live in the countryside of Berkley. I went to college for baking and pastry arts. Baking is my passion, I just love being in a kitchen and whipping up some sweet treats. My all-time life goal is to own my shop or cupcake truck one day. I have been camping here at Normandy for 3 years. I love being outdoors, swimming, hiking, and kayaking. When I have some down time, I like to refurbish furniture, make blankets, floral arrangements, or learn something new. In the wintertime, I head up to Maine to go snowmobiling with my boyfriend Justin and my pup Ozzy. My favorite time of year is Fall, something about the crisp air and bonfires just makes me so happy. Prior to starting at Normandy farms, I was in retail management for the past 6 years; my last 3 years was as an assistant Store manager for the number one store in the district. I am looking forward to my future here, excited to bring my flare, customer service skills, and retail knowledge to the team!
Welcome Taylor- Front Desk Manager
I wanted to take some time to introduce myself to everyone as the Front Desk Manager. I have officially accepted the position and I am looking forward to working side by side with you all to better the future of Normandy Farms! So with that being said here's a little blurb about me.
I was born and raised in New Jersey and although I no longer reside there, it will always have a piece of my heart. Once a Jersey girl, always a Jersey girl. My birthday is April 26 making me a Taurus and recently I have started getting into astrology. I have a 2.5 year old spit fire named Olivia who is definitely one of my soul mates in life and 100% my twin in personality. I moved to New England 9 years ago this fall (CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S BEEN THAT LONG) and I attended Johnson & Wales University to get a bachelor's degree in Travel and Tourism Management. However, I did not end up finishing my degree because I started working at Chipotle and felt like I was learning more in a hands-on environment rather than a classroom environment. At Chipotle I worked my way up to a General Manager in 3 years and I left when I was 6.5 months pregnant with Olivia. After having my nugget, I started working at Starbucks part-time and within a year that turned into full time and shift manager position. After 6 months in that role, new management took over and I no longer felt like my worth was being seen so I left and took a leap of faith to work here at Normandy. Which has been one of my greatest decisions thus far!
Some random fun facts about me:
Favorite Color: Pink or Hufflepuff yellow ( I am in fact a Potterhead)
Favorite Food: Pasta or Empanadas
Favorite Place: Austria or Ireland (I have some amazing stories if you ever want to hear them)
Favorite Starbucks Drink: 5 blonde shots of espresso over ice with 6 pumps of toffee nut and oat milk (I love caffeine)
De-Escalation: How to Defuse a Situation

Foxboro Police Officer Megan Allen, team member 2007; spoke to a group of leaders and campground owners who experience uncomfortable situations at the campground while enforcing guidelines. Officer Allen talked about De-escalation and the steps that are helpful to practice. She emphasized that it's best to check yourself prior to stepping into a situation, are you holding any bias, being defensive, or angry? You are best suited if you have a consistent soft approach. Consistency is key when enforcing guidelines. We don't want anyone in a situation where they have to defend themselves. Our main goal is to have a safe and peaceful camping environment.
  1. The goal is to maintain peace.
  2. Be confident in the guidelines. Be straight forward; don't engage in confrontation
  3. Don't take it personally. They may try to get a rise out of you, be calm. Ignore comments or cameras.
  4. Don't lie to the guests. Be honest and let them know you are doing your job.
  5. You can't reason with unreasonable people. You're intentions are good and stay focused on the goal.
  6. Build rapport with guests.
  7. Use phrases when approaching sites like "Hey- I'm not here to be a buzz kill or to kill the vibe, just looking to keep a peaceful park for everyone's enjoyment".
  8. Have a deck of tactics to use based on the situation; know your audience. Don't engage past your comfort level.
  9. Ask for help. Whether it's from another team member or other calm guests in the party.
  10. You are not alone. The Foxboro Police Department is just a 911 phone call away.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training
Cultural awareness refers to the ability of an individual, team or organization to recognize and appreciate cultural differences in order to successfully interact with people from other backgrounds.

Our training for Cultural Awareness will be sent this week by separate email. You'll be asked to watch the training and answer a few questions.
The training will focus on what you can do and some thoughts to consider:

  • Focus on seeing people as individuals. Rather than focusing on stereotypes to define people, spend time considering them on a more personal, individual level.
  • Work on consciously changing your stereotypes. If you do recognize that your response to a person might be rooted in biases or stereotypes, make an effort to consciously adjust your response.
  • Take time to pause and reflect. In order to reduce reflexive reactions, take time to reflect on potential biases and replace them with positive examples of the stereotyped group.
  • Adjust your perspective. Try seeing things from another person's point of view. How would you respond if you were in the same position? What factors might contribute to how a person acts in a particular setting or situation?
  • Increase your exposure. Spend more time with people of different racial backgrounds. Learn about their culture by attending community events or exhibits.
  • Practice mindfulness. Become more aware of your thoughts and actions.

Maintenance Tickets
For any issues you become aware of you will need to initiate a support request by utilizing our Support/Maintenance ticket feature. Simply send an email to: [email protected] and include any information about the issue or need along with a picture if applicable.

Some common reasons to submit a support ticket:
  • In need of supplies
  • Light bulb is out
  • Something is broken and in need of repair

Routine tasks that are part of the Team Members shift (for example, a guest requests that a fire ring be cleaned out) do not require a maintenance ticket, whereas needing a supply of trash bags when your inventory is low would be an appropriate entry for a ticket.
Please be advised that anything requiring immediate attention must be shared with a Team Leader so that he/she may monitor the situation to be sure it is resolved in a timely manner.
You can also submit a ticket within the ticketing system: https://normandy.supportsystem.com/index.php

Catch Me at My Best
What is there not to like about Normandy Farms. I went for the first time 30 years ago, and then more recently in the last several years. There is something for everyone here and NFC is constantly looking to upgrade their facilities. They have a small disc golf course (par 3 course), an RC track, a dirt bike track, corn hole, horse shoes area, 3 pools, an arcade, very and i mean VERY clean restroom facilities, a camp kitchen, shuffle board, ping pong, two wonderful playgrounds, a pond solely for fishing and other activities as well. The staff is incredibly friendly. There are also activities schedule every day. Something for everyone. Some of the activities are pay to play, others are free. Its most definitely geared toward a family environment. If i was forced to find a negative in this whole facility, I'd have to think very hard but i think it would be more swings. Both my children live swinging and there is only a baby/toddler swing. Such a minimal item because there really is so much going for this campground. Can't wait to go back in August for the 3rd time this year.

Paul S (Ranger): My children got lost and didn't realize the bathrooms were closer. A Code Adam was called since I lost sight and they wandered into the woods. They were found. We feel so safe here. (2) Pleasant, explained about the park, made us feel very welcome. (3) Returned my wallet. Thank God for honest people, Paul's one! (4) We had a water issue. He went above and beyond to help us resolve it. Very professional. (5) He helped me park at my site and again when I had to return to storage. Extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Couldn't as for a better rep for Normandy Farms. (6) We were having difficulty setting up our cable. Paul arrived in minutes after our call. He also noticed that our water needed a better hook-up and came back with the item. (7) He stopped on his time off and helped us with our golf cart.

Kim W (Housekeeping): She did a great job of cleaning the bathroom and made sure I heard her so she didn't scare me when I finished my shower. She was so friendly and I could tell really enjoyed working here and making the facility nice for the people staying here. You all have amazing staff!!!

Ryan M (Pools): Super friendly, Had a great chat!! Asset to the team!

Rich M (Ranger): Although not his job, he was very helpful in providing some tips as to why my sink could be clogged. It was simple fix with borrowing a honey cart and draining my water so glad he helped.

John N (Ranger): He came to our site to help with the water heater. John was very pleasant and happy to help. He also wasn't afraid to admit he couldn't solve the issue and called for Colin to help. Thank you John. (2) Ranger John- 5 star service! Excellent help, so nice he assisted us with our cable. Thank you!

Jack F (Recreation): He was very kind and helpful on multiple occasions. he looked up the time for a specific activity when it wasn't listed yet and explained the sports rental process thoughtfully. Also super on Haunted Walk with girls at end as safety.

Colin K (Ops Manager): Colin helped locate the bypass vales on our water heater and went above and beyond to explain how it worked and then showed us how the stove worked. Very pleasant and a HUGE help.

Lisa P (Guest Relations Manager): Super polite and helpful at reservation desk.

Abigail M (Sales Assistant): I had purchased ice cream at the front store. Abby welcomed me and helped me with my purchase with the brightest smile. Abby is why we continue to return for 20 years. Thank you Abby! A simple smile can change a day! (2) I had a "girls emergency" and went to the store looking for pads. They were out of stock but she really helped me offering one of her own. She really saved me and told me about the Target nearby. She was very nice and sweet. Thank you again, Abigail!

Katy H (Pools): She was kind enough to take a picture for us at the pool!

Wow! Where do I start? Having lived around Foxboro my whole life, who knew such a GEM existed so nearby. Every single staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities and restrooms were all modern and completely immaculate - nicer than my own home! We played tennis on their gorgeous tennis court, fished in the beautiful fishing pond, had a blast on our rented golf cart, swam in all four crystal clear pools, went to bingo, trivia, ceramics and danced to the live band. I was with my eight-year-old son and he loved it there! We stayed on a tent site and it was so quiet and peaceful. Absolutely perfect for families - they have done a tremendous job with this resort - I really can't say enough good things. Thank you, Normandy Farms!! XO

Angela C (yoga instructor): The yoga instructor @ 8 am was wonderful. She gave me and my two sisters awesome yoga sessions during our stay. She is very talented, kind, and definitely enhanced our stay here!

Carole S (Lodge): We asked her a question and she heard it was our first time here. She showed us around the Rec Lodge and told us some of the best things to do. (2) Carole helped me and my family when we first arrived with answering questions about the spa. While she was setting up the Christmas tree, she stopped what she was doing and helped me sign out the shuffle board equipment with a smile onher face. Also all week, I have observed her parking bikes that were in the way. She helped my day/stay and I will be coming back for sure!

Ellie S (GSR): She helped us find what we were looking for and was very kind.

Katie M (Store Manager): She checked me in.

Adam H (Ranger): He was very welcoming, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. He even helped us set up our tent. Spoke highly of Normandy Farms and assured us we would be safe and love it here.

Krysta L (Pools): Krysta is the type of employee that keeps us coming back for almost 20 years. I give Krysta at Pool 1 5 stars!

Dave M (Equip Manager): Dave delivered our trailer to our site as my husband was at work. He was kind enough to stay and help me level the trailer and even hooked up the battery. Dave is definitely an asset to Normandy Farms.

Mike R (Ranger): Mike went out of his way to help my neighbor with a water issue on his RV. He was relentless in trying to resolve a city water hookup. This gentleman is a keeper! (2) When we pulled in we had some mechanical issues. He was very helpful & friendly.

Hands down this has to be one of the best family campgrounds in the country! All the bath houses are extremely clean and brightly lit and they all have an attached laundry room (each bath house has one). There are numerous daily activities for both children and adults, three separate pools, a Rec hall, adult only loft with a large deck overlooking 2 of the pools. They have a frisbee golf course and like 10 horseshoe pits. There is a pond for fishing. There is a full basketball court and shuffle board as well. There are acres of green grassy fields. They have a walk up kitchen serving both food and ice cream. If you have never camped there before, they have a ranger bring you right to your site. The sites are level, spacious and are all full hookup. Most of the sites actually have 2 septic hook ups. Most of the sites are pull thru sites and are very large and also have cable tv hook ups. I have nothing bad to say at all, this campground is phenomenal and far exceeded our expectations!

Jen Lord-Baker (massage therapist): I got a massage today and I have to say that was one of the best massages I have ever gotten. I was in so much pain. My back and sciatica was killing me and she fixed me right up! She is absolutely incredible!!

Tori H (Pools): She was super helpful, provided a lot of great information and kept a smile the entire time!

Cindy Fuller (GSR/Hill): Cindy was very helpful with visitors in to celebrate my son's birthday.

There is not a lot I can add to the other glowing reviews. They are well deserved. The staff was exceptional, grounds well kept, everything was very clean, activities were numerous and pretty well organized, and, most of all, I felt safe turning my 11 year old grandson loose on the grounds. Our site was gravel, spacious and the hookups functioned well. We did lose power once as it became very hot and ac demand went up but it resolved quickly. We were in a fifth wheel and had plenty of room for tow vehicle and one extra car. We were there during high season and it was very expensive but the value was very good.

Ryan B (Ranger): He helped me when I fell off my bike. (2) We asked him for some grease for a bike, got some for us, it was not the right thing so he gave us the right thing. (3) He was super kind and took time out of his day to help us.

Thalia M, Ady Y, Ally J (GSR/Sales): All three of them were super kind and understanding, all helped me out past closing of the shop and got change for some large bills so I could go to the vending machine before the lodge closed. All 3 were extremely nice and deserved some praise for just being great people and willing to help out!

Willie G (Landscape Manager): Willie was kind, friendly, helpful, and genuinely a nice man.

Ray K (Ranger): I want to say how grateful I am for the help Mr. Ray gave me. It was a little bit more than 9 pm and I forgot my lighter and the shop was closed. Ray didn't hesitate to help me. Thank you! (2) He graciously helped me set up my tent and inflated my air mattress. He also checked up on me and my son during the night.

Noah H (Hospitality): I was checking in and jokingly said "you know how to set up a tent?" 15 minutes later, he sent Ray over to help me.

Sydney S (GSR): She was very friendly and helpful at the Reception Center.

The entire staff is absolutely amazing! Thank you!

Just wanted to let you know I really appreciate your staff. We have had our trailer moved several times and everyone of the guys was exceptional. They were helpful courteous and very accommodating.  A special thanks to Colin who moved us this morning I had trouble with a cable wire and had spent a good portion of the morning trying to fix it. I mentioned it to Colin and repaired in only minutes and was happy to do it. Thanks again to all of your wonderful staff.

Nicole M (Lodge): She was really nice to me.
Olivia C (GSR): She was very instrumental in assisting me to print much needed documents. She was great! (2) She was super friendly and in a great mood. Super nice especially at the end of the night. (3) Welcomed well, answered all our questions with ease and kindness. Shared helpful info. (4) We dealt with Liv when booking our reservation for next year. She was extremely pleasant with a smile. She was very professional and knows her job. (5) She helped me check in and was very helpful! (6) Great person to have at the desk. Very pleasant and helpful!

Ashton T (Hospitality): Amazing at the gate!

Zack M (GSR): Very helpful finding a campsite. (2) Very helpful and friendly.

Thalia M (GSR): Great at the front desk!

ALL STAFF: Every staff member is respectful, kind, energetic and fun! We love it here, sad we have to leave.

Aqua Zumba Lady: Great energy, so fun!

Colby P (Pools): Great at pools, so kind! (2) Colby was working very hard at the heated pool keeping everything neat and organized and all with a smile and very friendly demeanor. (3) Always polite and always watching pool. (4) "Krystas Husband" I am sorry, forgot his name, tall redhead, Great employee! Never stopped working. Great employee- 5 stars! (5) Colby made us feel at home. Great, great employee. He is why we keep coming back! (6) This guy is great! Friendliest staff member I have ever met at an RV Park! He answered my questions about the RV park and gave suggestions. Also he showed me how to more easily get in and out of the hot tub without using the stairs. Thank you Colby! We will be back for another week in the beginning of August. (7) I have witnessed him cleaning pool 1 and he does an excellent job. He is the only team member I have seen do this. I am not sure if that is his assignment but he is very efficient!

Meghan B (GSR): Very helpful at the cabin front desk! Love her helpfulness!

Kacie C (Junior Ranger): Great at maintaining BMX track and keeping everyone safe, very friendly.

Hailey B (Recreation): She did a great job running team trivia! Her instructions and announcements were clear and she kept the event moving at a good pace. (2) Hailey facilitated many competitions I participated in this week. I hit a big home run in family softball game and I asked her if that wins a shirt and she said "it should"!

We just left after three nights of camping and just wanted to say thank you so much. Your resort is amazing. And your staff are so friendly. We can’t wait to come back!! Well done!

Kyle Conroy (Recreation):Best pool volleyball game host ever!

Caitlin Vacher (Sales): She stopped what she was doing to help me mail a letter.

Sawyer Bean (Recreation): He helped pick up my grandma after she fell. Such a nice boy.
