Caleb
I contacted Kids Kicking Cancer when Caleb was 2, following two surgeries, five very hard rounds of chemotherapy, and 30 rounds of Proton Radiation. Although he was small even for Little Heroes, Caleb loved the classes & learned to “Breathe in the light and blow out the darkness.”

I am grateful to the KKC program for all that it has done for Caleb, and as he grows older, all that it will do for him. We can’t get back the first year and a half of Caleb’s life and the time he spent in the hospital or undergoing medical treatment. We can only look ahead and make new and happy memories of his bright future. Kids Kicking Cancer helps to make these happy, life long memories as well as providing us with a sense of Power, Peace, and Purpose!

Message from Rabbi G. - Founder

As summer draws to a close, parents are busy checking school supplies and managing the anxiety of children going back to school. It's a busy time and many parents breathe a sigh of relief when the school bus arrives and carries their children off to, hopefully, a new stage of growth and fun.

For the children of Kids Kicking Cancer there isn't always the same excitement of a new beginning. Many are forced to miss a great deal of class. Radiation and medication may create challenges and leave the children feeling weak and different from their friends.

Having a karate class to go to weekly or excitedly awaiting our martial arts therapist's visit at home or in the hospital, our children learn that they are different. Not despite their challenges but because of them, they are able to teach the world how to turn darkness to light.

Ask any of the almost 6,000 children we will see this year what that means and they will respond with the Kids Kicking Cancer mantra, “Power Peace Purpose”! No matter what we face, we can connect to an incredible power and blow out pain, fear and anger, creating inner peace. And when our children do that, they accept upon themselves the purpose of teaching the world. That message is even larger than any new school bag can hold.
