🎉 Ready, Set, Register!

The countdown is over - registration is live

Whether you're a youth athlete, coach, referee, club admin, or someone who wears all the hats, it's time to lock in your membership for 2025-2026. This includes Club Presidents and Admins, Volunteers, Board Members, and even VA Staff - so yes, this means you too.

We’ve made some big improvements this year to streamline your experience, keep your teams compliant, and set your season up for success, but you need to take action early.

👉 Visit our “How to Register” Page Now - everything you need is in one place: forms, guides, links, and NEW changes you don’t want to miss.

💡 Don’t Forget

Our Membership & Registrant Policy has recently been updated. All clubs are strongly encouraged to review the policy before registration opens to ensure a smooth start to the new season.

Memberships are valid from September 1 to August 31 and include components from both Volleyball Alberta and Volleyball Canada. Following Volleyball Canada’s AGM and Volleyball Alberta’s SAGM on June 21, 2025 new membership fees details have been posted to our Fees & Benefits page.

🔎 What’s Actually New This Year?

Here’s what’s different - and why it matters:

🛡️Backcheck Deadline

To stay eligible all season (including Provincials and Nationals), your backcheck must be valid through June 30, 2026. If it expires before then, start a new check now to avoid interruptions later. ** All Leaders must complete the Person In Authority (PIA) requirements

🔒 Club Portal Lockout

Returning clubs were shifted to “Awaiting Approval” on August 5 @ 11:59 PM. To get access back, complete your Club Approval Form ASAP. This is the only way to reactivate your account and prepare for athlete registration.

📅 Hard Deadlines

📂 No More Emailing PDFs

All clubs must upload board members under Roles and insurance/legal docs under Attachments directly in their Club Portal. No more form back-and-forths - it's all online now.

No More 15-Min Consent Video

We’ve simplified the Abuse-Free Sport process. One less step = more time to prep.

TEAM ALBERTA

Team Alberta 2025 Indoor

After a short break at the end of July, the Team AB Canada Summer Games Teams have been back in the swing of things training at Ambrose University in Calgary. The Women’s & Men’s teams are working hard to prepare to represent Alberta for the Indoor Volleyball Competition beginning on August 19th. Our Teams have been once again supported by Nutrition, Mental Performance, Recovery & AT sport science experts through the training period.

The CSG teams were also able to take in the action watching a match at the U21 Men’s Pan AM Cup hosted in Calgary. The legacy partnership also saw our CSG teams be able to hold a few practice sessions on the Pan Am competition court! The players were able to take in some of the sights in the area heading to the mountains for a short hike.

The countdown is on as both teams fly out the evening of August 16th. Good luck to all athletes, coaches & support staff, we will be cheering you on in Newfoundland from here at home!!

BEACH

And just like that… the 2025 Youth Beach Season is a wrap! Sure, Mother Nature decided to keep us on our toes with rain showing up almost every weekend, but our athletes proved they could bring the sunshine no matter the forecast.

After months of sandy courts, soggy hoodies, and some truly epic rallies, we wrapped up our Youth Provincials this past weekend. The grit, hustle, and sportsmanship on display made it a season to remember! 2025 Beach Results

Now, we’re trading rain jackets for sunglasses as we send our Alberta athletes off to Nationals starting August 15. We know they’ll make waves on and off the sand, we’ll be cheering loud from home!

And, don’t forget, the season’s not quite over!

College Beach Provincials hit the sand August 23 -24 for one last weekend of play, and maybe… just maybe… some dry weather.

Here’s to an unforgettably wet 2025 beach season. Alberta, you crushed it!

Beach Programs & Leagues in Edmonton at John Fry Park

Wrapping Up a Full Summer on the Sand at John Fry Park

From June through mid-August, the John Fry Park Beach Volleyball Courts buzzed with activity -serves flying, rallies stretching long into the evening, and players of all ages digging deep in the sand.

Our Adult Beach Leagues brought together athletes for Women’s 2s, Coed 4s, Men’s 2s, and Coed 2s, running 11 weeks with regular season play, playoffs, and prizes for division champions. Even with the occasional curveball from Mother Nature - air quality advisories, summer storms - our players showed resilience, spirit, and plenty of skill.

The younger generation brought just as much energy. The Youth League served up Thursday night matches across two sessions- five weeks in June/early July, and six weeks from mid-July into August; giving athletes the chance to test their skills in real game-play situations. Complementing that, the Beach Volleyball Development Program (Tuesdays) and Beginner Tripleball Program (Wednesdays) gave players the tools to succeed, with focused skill development followed by game play. From forearm passing to attacking, these sessions were designed to build confidence, refine techniques, and prepare athletes for league play.

To everyone who joined us, whether you were chasing your first rally or your next championship, thank you for making Edmonton’s 2025 beach volleyball season unforgettable. We’ll see you back on the sand in 2026!
