Volunteer Update
August 29, 2019
Thank you to all of our summer volunteers ... while you were making memories, you were also making a difference!

Summer is a time for high school and college students to sleep in, enjoy some sunshine and maybe work a summer job. For some students, summer is a time where they choose to give back to their community through volunteering. A special thank you to all the high school and college students who volunteered in our Food and Nutrition Center, the Resale Stores and our special events this summer you provide much needed help while our school-year volunteers take vacations and breaks!
Volunteer Spotlight
And the award for furthest commute goes to ...

... Jingqiao Huang and Yi Xu (pictured here)! These hardworking young women volunteered in our Encinitas Resale Store while doing an exchange program from China this summer. Robert Pontier writes “they were hard working, diligent and always brought a smile!”
Gearing up for the new school year

The Mira Costa Service Learning Group visited CRC to get a tour and learn more about the work we do! These students volunteer in subject-related areas such as food insecurity, homelessness and social justice. Some of these students go on to become life-long advocates for social services organizations like CRC.
Bethlehem Serves!  Thank you to Bethlehem Lutheran for coming out on Sunday August 18th to clean our Carlsbad Resale Store
Mailing party! Fifteen volunteers came out on Friday August 16th to address and stuff 800 invitations for our 40th Birthday Gala coming up in October. Thank you!
Congratulations to our August Volunteer of the Month: Jeanette Pasut

Jeanette has been volunteering in the Food and Nutrition Center since early 2018 and holds the “Lead Volunteer” position for our Monday morning volunteer crew. As a lead volunteer, Jeanette schedules volunteers, oversees the daily operations of the Food Center and makes sure all participants receive the highest quality service during her shift. Yanira Frias, Food and Nutrition Manager says this: “Jeanette works hard and often steps in when we are short-handed.”

Jeanette displays a genuine compassion for others and passion for the work we do here at CRC – she is a star!
