The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.

Pretty simple isn't it.

Now last time I checked women around the world (with some notable
exceptions) are not equal to men in the following categories:

Political

Are you kidding me? Just look at the faces of our political landscape
worldwide and you tell me. Just by the sheer percentages we can say
women are not politically equal. In some countries they are still
not allowed to vote!

Social

Again are we socially equal to men worldwide? Again a resounding
NO!
This doesn't mean we all can't equally go to parties. It means we have the same footing in the Social fabric of our world and we do not!

Socially women in some countries still can't drive or own property or
leave the house without fearing a rape!!

Finally this category also includes the killing of girl fetuses just because they are girls! An activity that still goes on in countries all across the globe.

And of course then we have Economic

In every poll women in every country make less then men with
rare exceptions. In the US we women make .73 to every dollar
a man makes!

This dooms women to poverty levels over a lifetime. If you are paid
less or in some places not paid at all it effects how much money you will have in a lifetime. And by the way since we are still the primary caretakers of children worldwide this also dooms our children to poverty
and so on and so on and so on.

I for one do not believe Feminism is dead nor should it be!

The test for me is are we equal in these three arenas;
Economic, Social, Political?

If we are behind men in any of these areas the question of
feminism being dead is a question born out of a stupidity and a fear
that women have already arrived and don't need to be strident
about their rights any more.

Or it's some women who have theirs and don't care if we have ours who
want us to shut up and not threaten what they already have.

In the Olden Days (the 60's & 70's) we called this "The Queen Bee Syndrome"

Women who have become successful and do not want to reach out and support other women. Mostly because they are fearful they will lose what they have!

There is a female candidate in the US right now who has just discovered her dormant feminist side. She is making all kinds of comments about
the men in the campaign and what they have said that is anti-woman. She
even pointed out how she was discriminated against in her career. Something she never talked about until her run for President!

However in her tenure in her career It is reported she rarely did anything to help her fellow women. Including self disclosing the discrimination she
had to deal with and how she did it. That information alone could have helped thousands of women along their way. In fact she is quoted as
saying her promotion to CEO was the breaking of the glass ceiling for
all women. Really for all women? Do you feel no glass ceiling above you because there wasn't one above her? Please!

So if this woman can have an epiphany I say all women can. If we
all wake up to the fact we are not yet equal to men and certainly our
sisters worldwide are not in those three categories then we still
have some work to do and Feminism CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT
Die!!
