August 2020 Week 1 Prayers
I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the stranger. -Job 29:15-16
Pray for the people of Nepal following devastating floods. Monsoon rains began in the last week of June, continued through July and increased in intensity at the end of July. More than 112,000 people have been affected. Officials fear increases of waterborne disease due to the floods. Pray for the work of the Nepal Cancer Foundation, which is located in the areas hit by the flooding.

Annual monsoon floods in eastern and north-eastern India have displaced tens of thousands in the region, which is hampering efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. Pray for healthcare workers trying to test and treat people with COVID-19.

Pray for children, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. As COVID-19 disrupts economies, livelihoods, and food security, an additional 6.7 million children under the age of five could suffer from wasting and severe malnutrition. According to an analysis published in The Lancet, 80 percent of these children would be from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Over half would be from South Asia alone. Pray for practices and policies that keep families and children safe from COVID-19, yet enable the distribution of food and medicine.
