Each August, the U.S. Military observes Anti-terrorism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to reinforcing the vigilance and preparedness that help keep our service members, veterans, and communities safe. Originating in the U.S. Army but supported across all branches, this month serves as a reminder that the fight against terrorism doesn’t rest—and neither does our collective responsibility to remain alert and informed.
Key focus areas include recognizing insider threats, safeguarding sensitive information through Operational Security (OPSEC), and engaging the public through the “See Something, Say Something” initiative. These efforts are vital not only on active duty bases, but also in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and public spaces.
While service members train to respond to global threats, veterans continue to serve as advocates and educators here at home, reminding us that vigilance is a shared duty. At Fisher House Kansas City, we’re proud to support those who stand watch and those who once did, as we all work to ensure a safer future.
Let’s honor their service by staying aware, staying informed, and staying ready.
