FAM’s annual Regional Exhibition is one of the longest-running juried exhibitions in New England. This tradition spotlights the artists and crafters of our region by providing a museum environment for their work and connecting them with fellow creators, patrons, and art enthusiasts. James Dye uses a painstaking and detailed ink drawing technique to create images of mysterious narratives. His imagery is deeply informed by symbols inspired by mythology, religion, psychology, and the history of art and architecture. Dye’s work tells stories – both personal and universal – about the terrors and wonders of the struggles between chaos and order, light and dark, and existence and oblivion. Dye was the First Prize Winner of our 89th Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft.
| | | | Call and Response: Kindred | |

The theme of FAM’s annual Call and Response collaboration with ArtsWorcester is Kindred. The most common definition of kinship is family. Families can be biologically connected; they can also be found and forged in love and friendship. In fact, sometimes the deepest connections are formed through mutual experiences or shared beliefs. Joint pursuits such as shared interests, hobbies, or passions are also fertile ground to establish strong relationships. The ten ArtsWorcester artwork selections, in combination with ten from FAM’s permanent collection, are representative of all types of kinship.

Opening September 26, 2026, Elisa H. Hamilton: Heirlooms features vibrant works on paper that draw from a handcrafted quilt made by the artist’s great-grandmother. Embracing joyful color and dynamic geometric patterns, Hamilton embodies family stories using bold, contemporary abstractions. Join us this fall to experience this celebration of memory, family, and creativity.

Hidden Treasures is a free art program designed to support and engage individuals with the early to middle stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, along with their care partners, or family members. FAM has extended hours from 12 – 7 PM as part of Fitchburg's First Thursdays. Shop at the outdoor Farmers' Market, in partnership with Growing Places, from 3 – 5:30 PM. This programming is supported by an endowment given to FAM in memory of Martha Malm.

Checking out the Museum or the Farmer’s Market during FAM at Night? Come to our artmaking table outside in the courtyard! Drop in for free anytime 3–5:30 PM and create your own art to take home. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. No sign-up is required to attend.

At this community partner event, help the Fitchburg Cultural Council (FCC) prioritize grants for the benefit of Fitchburg residents at its annual public input meeting at 5 PM on August 6, as part of FAM at Night.

Hosted by FAM's community partner, The Openest Mic, this free outdoor event invites all ages to enjoy an evening of live music on the Museum grounds during golden hour. Bring a blanket or your favorite chair and relax under the open sky.
