Your Guide to Stage 2 Outdoor Watering

Mustang is currently under Stage 2 drought restrictions. To help conserve water during the high-demand summer season, outdoor watering is limited to one day per week.

Thank you for doing your part to protect our water supply! ☀️💧

🔹 Stage 2 Watering Reminders

  • ✅ Water only on your assigned day

  • 🚫 No sprinkler or irrigation use between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

  • 🤲 Hand-held hoses, drip systems, and soaker hoses are okay anytime

  • 🚗 Car washing is allowed on your watering day (use a bucket or hose with a shut-off nozzle)

Every drop counts! These simple steps help make sure there's enough water for everyone’s daily needs. 🏠💧💙

New Gunter Well Nearing Completion! 💧🚰

The blue piping you see in the image above is the new well!

Construction on our new well in Gunter is nearly finished, and we expect it to be up and running by the middle of August. Once complete, it'll add about 850 gallons of water per minute to our system, helping us keep up with our community's growing needs.

💧 Here's a remarkable fact: the well goes 2,365 feet down. That's almost half a mile underground!

We're proud to keep improving our system and keep water flowing where it's needed most!

What’s Flowing This August? 🌊

💧 All Month: National Water Quality Month

August is National Water Quality Month, a time to recognize the daily importance of clean, safe water. At Mustang, we’re committed to delivering high-quality water you can trust. From routine testing to system maintenance and source protection, our team works year-round to ensure your water meets all state and federal safety standards.

You can make a big difference by being mindful of things at home, like tossing out chemicals correctly, repairing leaky faucets, and cutting back on lawn fertilizers. All add up. Small actions like these help keep our local water clean and safe for everyone, now and in the years to come.

Together, we can keep our water safe now and for future generations!

🛍️ August 9–11: Texas Tax-Free Weekend

Save on school supplies, clothes, and more during Texas' Tax-Free Weekend! Perfect time to stock up before the new school year starts.

🎒 Mid August: Back to School

It’s that time again. Backpacks are packed, buses are rolling, and students return to class!

Safety is a core value here at Mustang, and as we enter a new school year, we want to remind everyone to take extra care in school zones. Please slow down, watch for crosswalks, don't pass buses when stopped, and give buses plenty of space.

It’s also a great time to remind students to stay hydrated. With high summer temps still hanging around, drinking plenty of water helps kids stay focused, refreshed, and ready to learn.

At Mustang, we wish students, teachers, and families a safe and successful school year! 📚💧

🚿 August 16: National Backflow Prevention Day

Did you know that backflow prevention is key to keeping your drinking water safe? Backflow happens when water flows in the wrong direction, potentially allowing contaminants from hoses, irrigation systems, or even sprinkler backwash to enter the clean water supply.

Many homes and businesses have backflow prevention devices installed on irrigation lines and other systems to prevent this. These devices act like one-way gates, ensuring that water only flows into the home and not back into the main supply.

At Mustang, protecting water quality is our top priority. To ensure everything is working properly, we require annual backflow testing for certain systems.

🐶 August 26: National Dog Day

Dogs have a way of making life a little brighter. Whether they’re greeting us at the door, following us from room to room, or just snoozing nearby, they always seem to know how to lift our spirits.

National Dog Day a great excuse to spoil your pup with an extra treat or some well-earned belly rubs. They’ve earned it!

💦 Soaker Hoses: A Smart Way to Water

Soaker hoses are a helpful tool, especially when trying to be smart about water use. They slowly release water right into the soil, so there's less waste and more benefit where it counts.

A lot of folks use them around their home's foundation. During long, dry stretches, the ground can pull away from the slab and cause shifting or cracks. Running a soaker hose a little ways out from the house helps moisten the soil, easing the pressure on your foundation.

They're also great for other spots in the yard, like:

  • Garden beds where you want to water roots, not leaves
  • Around trees and shrubs for a steady soak
  • Along fence lines or narrow spaces where sprinklers don't work well

It's a low-effort, water-friendly way to care for your home and landscape, especially when every drop matters.
