Preparing Youth for Bright Futures
|
Every year, APAH’s Ready to Learn campaign connects young residents with school supplies for the upcoming academic year. This year, APAH distributed backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and more to more than 600 youth who call our properties home.
In August, APAH hosted pop-up shops at 10 of our communities. Students received tickets to ‘shop’ for school supplies, and a gift card for any additional needs. APAH extends an enormous thank you to our Ready to Learn donors, including Park Hotels and Resorts and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, plus all the volunteers who made 2022 Ready to Learn a success.

Get Out the Vote Effort
| |
|
This year, we will elect local, state, and federal leaders who make critical decisions about planning and funding for affordable housing.
APAH is continuing our history of encouraging residents to make their voices heard. Stellar NAACP volunteer Benedetta Kessel, whom you may remember from this highlight, has led the effort to canvass over 1,100 APAH apartments.

The Newest AFAC Distribution Site: APAH's Gilliam Place
|
Gilliam Place became Arlington Food Assistance Center’s (AFAC) newest distribution location, and the fourth to take place onsite at an APAH property, joining Columbia Hills/ Columbia Grove, Marbella, and the Springs. We're elated that this partnership will serve more families - already more than 500 households receive AFAC grocery distributions, addressing food insecurity across the portfolio.
It was great to collaborate with so many incredible volunteers and organizations like Our Stomping Ground and Arlington Presbyterian Church to serve Gilliam Place residents.
