JamKlezCalifornia Klezmer Workshops and Jams

Join us for one (or more!) of three more summertime KlezCalifornia Klezmer Workshops & Jams. Each will be taught by a terrific musician and teacher and includes learning tunes with authentic klezmer style, and a traditional jam. The balance of learning by ear vs. with charts is chosen by each teacher. For all instruments; no klezmer experience needed (but it doesn't hurt!). Must be at least intermediate level on your instrument. Mute required if you are a brass player. Optional: bring recording device. To get a head start, check out sheet music and/or sound files in advance.

Registration: $25 sliding scale, for participants. Pay on site with cash or check. Refreshments included. Listeners welcome; donation requested. More info: 415.789.7679, [email protected].

New Honor Wall postings this month:

Interactive Resources: In gratitude to Edward Anisman, whom we've had the honor to work with for four decades. Thank you Ed for your dedication, excellence and friendship.

Lea Delson:
My donation is in memory of Allen Stross. He was an intrepid and spirited person with tons of personality, a warm and kind person and was a fascinating storyteller. He was a dedicated photographer for the Jewish Music Festival, the Berkeley Historical Society, and for the Yiddish Culture Festival. He was the organizer of a photography contest sponsored by the Berkeley Historical Society in 2005, for photo essays about Berkeley's history. I was thrilled to be one of the winners of this contest. Thanks, Allen, for all you did.
