Q & A

We received this great question from a parent leader building a fundraising plan for the coming year:

Q: As per Chancellor's Regulation A-660 Section III.C.3.a, " Fundraising Activities Involving Students During Instructional Hours - PA/PTA fundraising activities involving students during instructional hours are restricted to 2 per year." Is Picture Day considered a fundraising activity involving students during instructional hours?

A: Fundraiser + Students + Instructional Time = Yes! If your PA/PTA plans to host a Picture Day fundraiser during instructional hours, it is indeed considered one of just 2 PA/PTA fundraisers involving students permitted during instructional time per year. (There are no restrictions on the number fundraisers during non-instructional hours, which are defined as time during the school day when students are not engaged in the instructional process.

âť‹ Principal approval is required when the fundraiser is during school hours or on school property.

âť‹ SEE CR A-610 for more on fundraising and photography.

Keep sending questions via info@ptalink.org! Your thoughtful questions help other PA/PTA parents across the city!

Youth Programming

The Circle Keepers’ fellowship application for the upcoming year is now open! Their programs provide elementary, middle, and high school students with opportunities to build skills in restorative justice, conflict resolution, youth leadership, community organizing, civic engagement, and arts-based education. Young people will participate in community-building activities, develop their leadership and facilitation skills, and learn practical tools they can use in their schools, families, and communities.
