August is Member Appreciation Month!

Hello YMCA Members and Friends!

We have had a full summer of opportunities to embody our pillars of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. In the background of all of this, our staff has been busy coming up with new ideas to strengthen our community and creating childcare solutions for local families. None of this would be possible without the support of members like YOU so for the month of August, we'll be showing our appreciation in a series of fun member only events!

BIG NEWS for the YMCA Youth Triathlon

We're just weeks away from our Annual Youth Triathlon and this year's event is going to be better than ever! Each participant in the Findlay YMCA Youth Triathlon will be invited to an online Meet and Greet with USA Olympic Triathlete BEN KANUTE!

Participants will also be entered in a raffle drawing for a new CUSTOM MADE Youth Triathlon Bicycle, family pizza night, movie tickets, a foursome at the Country Club, free tennis lessons, and balloon rides!

As if that's not enough, all racers will receive a finishers medal, a race T-Shirt, snacks, Dietsch's ice cream, and more! Plaques will be awarded to the top three in every age group for boys & girls.

Optional FREE training clinics will be held on Tuesday, August 8th and Thursday, August 10th from 6-7 pm. This is a great chance for kids to get a feel for the race, learn the course, and some encouragement and advice on the side! Is your child on the fence about participating? This is a great opportunity to boost their confidence in their abilities!

All of this for an entry fee of just $35 ($10 for USAT membership and $25 for race entry)! In case of financial barriers, scholarships are available.

Battle of the Businesses

We're bringing back a classic YMCA fundraiser with Battle of the Businesses! Send this event to your company's event planner or team building coordinator, grab some coworkers, and let's get ready to rumble!

This year's events will include Family Feud, Dodgeball, Soccer, Volleyball, BINGO, and as a featured event, a cardboard boat regatta!

Battle of the Businesses will take place August 17th at Riverside Park.

Best of Findlay

We are honored to have been nominated in two categories for the Courier's Best of Findlay! We were nominated as the best health and fitness center and the best childcare center! We'd love if you'd take a minute to show your support by voting!

WIN A JEEP!

A Jeep generously donated by Findlay Chrysler will be raffled off as part of the Annual Black Swamp Classic. Tickets are on sale now for $100 and only 400 will be sold! The winner does not need to be present to win.

There are also team spots available for those who'd like to participate in the golf scramble on September 18th and 19th! Proceeds from this event benefit the Braden Kramer Foundation, the Findlay YMCA, and the Putnam County YMCA and support programs that improve the health, wellness, and character of youth in our community.

Riverside Pool Closing Dates

From now through August 20th, we will continue normal hours of operation. As the end of summer approaches and children and lifeguards return to school, we will have limited hours before we close for the year on August 27th. Riverside will also be closed on August 17th for the Battle of the Businesses event.

End of Season Hours:

Last Weekend:

There will be one more FREE day at Riverside on August 20th thanks to the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation's Fun for All Series!

We recently announced Kari Redman as our Child Development District Director, Heather Moore as our Child Development Director of Operations, and Nick Schenkel as our School Age Child Coordinator. Along with these spectacular additions to our childcare team, we are pleased to announce our new Cory Rawson Early Learning Center Director, Stephanie Dawson! Stephanie previously worked at the YMCA Child Development Center as a lead preschool teacher and has worked as a paraprofessional in a preschool special education classroom for the past six years. Welcome, Stephanie!

Big things are happening in Findlay YMCA childcare! In case you missed it, FABSS is continuing under YMCA leadership as YABBS for the 2023-2024 school year. Before and After School Sessions will continue to operate at local elementary schools with the added opportunity for before and after school care at the YMCA Downtown Branch. Bussing will continue to be provided by FCS. We have also decided to offer School Day Out Camps to our YABSS families for non-school days such as holiday breaks and teacher in-service days. Registration packets are now available on the website at https://www.findlayymca.org/yabss.

We are currently in the middle of a great summer session of programs. Our next session, Fall I, will begin September 5th with member registration opening on August 21st.
