RI STAC accepting applications for 2020 collaborative research grants
In partnership with RI C-AIM, The RI Research Alliance is offering Collaborative Research Grants through a competitive granting process with the goal of stimulating cutting-edge collaborative research projects across the state's research institutions.

Successful submissions will address RI C-AIM's research questions regarding Narragansett Bay: assessing resilience, understanding ecological complexity, developing new tech to monitor changes in the bay, increasing engagement through data visualization, improving sustainability, and successfully capturing large data sets.

A Letter of Intent is due by  September 20, 2019. Proposals are due by  October 18, 2019.
Student Spotlight
2018 SURFs Ana Nimaja & Sam Rush
Ana Nimaja, a political science major at the University of Rhode Island, has co-authored a policy memo to Providence Schools on the implementation of year-round education. Read the report.

In 2018, Nimaja worked with URI marine affairs professor Dr. Tracey Dalton to conduct surveys of coastal users on Narragansett Bay , research which will ultimately be used in C-AIM's socio-ecological modeling efforts.
Sam Rush , who graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in chemical engineering, is now a manufacturing associate at biotech company Amgen . He is responsible for growing and upscaling cells used to create proteins for Amgen products.

Read about his 2018 research with URI's Dr. Arijit Bose on using nanoparticles to detect nutrients in seawater.
