Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities and Rebuilding Lives
September 2020
A Note From Our Executive Director
Friend,

What a month we've had here at RTMC! We added three new highly skilled team members, we redeveloped our work processes to create more efficiencies, we planned a contest for kids, and we completed our renovation work at Emanuel House, a place where three young mothers and their children will soon call home.

We've accomplished a lot, but now is not the time to rest. The pandemic has created an even greater demand for our services, and we have a waiting list of homeowners in desperate need of home repairs. I invite you to join us and support our work so we can reach our neighbors in need here in Montgomery County.

Thank you for supporting RTMC’s mission, Friend. Please enjoy this month's update.
All the best,
Maury Peterson Signature

Inaugural Children's Drawing Contest
With children spending so much time indoors due to the pandemic, never before have they had the opportunity to deeply appreciate the importance of a safe and healthy home. We want to see what their home means to them. In honor of our 30th anniversary, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County is proud to announce our first ever drawing contest!

We invite all children in Montgomery County under the age of 12 to answer the following prompt:

What does a safe and healthy home mean to you?

We'll collect all of the entries and ask supporters like you to vote for your favorite drawings. The winner(s) will have their art featured on our website, social media accounts, and marketing materials. Learn more about the contest and how to participate.
Emanuel House – A True Labor of Love!
We are thrilled to announce that RTMC completed renovation work at Emanuel House, a project spearheaded by a coalition of local partners. This house will soon serve as a home for three young, formerly homeless mothers and their children. The project has been a true labor of love for all of us, and we can't wait for the families to move in and begin their new lives. See pictures of the home and read more.
Exciting Additions to the Team
We are excited to announce that we have added three wonderful new team members. Dennis, Steve, and Raul have decades of experience among them, are accomplished in their respective fields, and will undoubtedly add a tremendous amount to RTMC. Please take some time to learn about them below. 👇👇👇
Dennis has worked everywhere from Wall Street to IBM, but he's most enjoyed the over two decades spent with Habitat for Humanity of Washington D.C. as a senior staff leader, board member, and volunteer. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance. Dennis is excited to use his expertise to ensure our operations thrive.
Steve was born in Washington, D.C., and has lived in Montgomery County for over three decades. He manages our development operations, including grant management, and fundraising. Steve was appointed to the Montgomery County Commission on People with Disabilities in 2018, and he holds a B.A. in History from UMBC. Steve is dedicated to making our community a better place to live.
Raul is originally from El Salvador. He moved to the U.S. in 1982 and has called Rockville home for the last 20 years. Raul knows the ins and outs of construction and has many years of experience in the field. He has a dual degree in Architecture and Management of Construction from Montgomery College. Raul describes his new job as “a dream come true.”
Swing for a Cause at the RTMC Golf Tournament
The annual Rebuilding Together Golf Tournament will take place on October 5th at Bretton Wood Golf Club! There is still time to support the event. All funds raised will go directly towards our mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives. Learn how to become a sponsor.

Special thanks to Tournament Sponsors Carey’s Mechanical, LLC and Miller & Long Concrete Construction.
A Big Thank You to Terry Scott
We want to say a very special thank you to Terry Scott, Rebuilding Together National construction consultant. Terry was kind enough to spend three weeks with our team, sharing his wisdom and expertise with us. His suggestions have greatly improved our processes and will set us up for further success. Terry’s passion for our mission is inspiring, and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn so much from him.
