Our Perspective
Spotlight: Augusta County Fair - August 1st-5th
While we're soaking up long days, sunshine, and taking advantage of all the fun to be had before the kiddos head back to school, you'll want to be sure to put the Augusta County Fair on your schedule this week.  Held at Augusta Expo in Fishersville, this Valley tradition (since 1868) is filled with activities for the whole family.
Be sure to check out Aussie Kingdom (new this year), the Great Lakes Timber Show, Agricadabra (an educational agricultural show), the Demolition Derby, Motocross, and the fan favorite Tractor Pull. Of course, there will be the midway rides your kids love and foods you've been craving (cotton candy, anyone?) Be sure to make your way down to the barns were youth of all ages have been working for months to prepare their animals for the show ring.  When I was in 4-H and FFA, fair week was the pinnacle of my summer - when hours of feeding, training, washing, planning, and record-keeping would hopefully pay off.  While you're at the fair, take a few minutes to share your support for our youth who are learning at a very early age some important life lessons about responsibility, cash flow, and presentation.
The Augusta County Board of Supervisors and staff will be there to greet you and start your fair experience off right - with some hot, buttery popcorn.  Be sure to stop by, say hi, and get your free popcorn. We look forward to seeing you!
