Our Perspective
Spotlight: Sumitomo Drive Technologies' expands in Mill Place Commerce Park

The blue ribbon's been cut! Sumitomo Drive Technologies' new location in Mill Place Commerce Park is officially open. Celebrating today at its new location, Sumitomo held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for its new Gearbox Center of Excellence. The Gearbox Center will allow Sumitomo to become "the First Choice in Power Transmission Solutions" for customers as well as offering an on-site "Gear School" for employee training.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies was the first company operating out of Mill Place Commerce Park after the Park was purchased in 1996. This recent expansion into a new space, done in partnership with InterChange Group, will allow the company to grow as well as allow InterChange Group an opportunity to house future customers in the new 108,000 square foot space.

Congratulations to Sumitomo! Twenty-percent of the Augusta County workforce is in manufacturing, and we are always encouraged to see companies invest in growth.

Shenandoah Beerwerks Update

Launched in December 2017, the Shenandoah Beerwerks passport program has exceeded expectations. The program, requiring six stamps from six different breweries along the trail, has resulted in:
  • Over 800 redeemed passports
  • Over 5,000 brewery visits
  • Visitors from over 34 states
Redeemed passports result in a free t-shirt!
