AURORA DANCE ARTS “ARE WE IN KANSAS, YET?” PRODUCTION A SMASHING SUCCESS!

A Message from Aurora Dance Arts Artistic Director – Maggie Chapman:

Thank you so, so, SO MUCH to our incredible village of people involved in the success of Aurora Dance Arts’ latest large-scale, fall production of “Are We In Kansas, Yet?” We are so very proud of & inspired by the hard work that went into dreaming the world of Oz to life. Every member of our cast & crew poured their love, energy, passion, talent, creativity & joy into this production, and it was abundantly clear as they all shown like stars on that stage! The dancers in the Aurora Dance Arts program & especially the dancers in this production give us purpose & we couldn’t be more proud of these blossoming artists & what their hearts beat for! We have received nothing but extremely glowing feedback about the show, the level of dancer talent, the costumes, the music, the production value & the joy that it gave our audiences.

Thank you specifically to our amazing Stage Manager, Minda McGurk, our fabulous Costumers, Leanne Golledge & Lex Pruisner, our incredible lighting designer, Brett Maughan, our awesome Sound Designer, Brandon Anderson, our wonderful choreographic staff: Erin Buterbaugh, Michelle Ballard, Samantha Amos, Dayna Zielke, Alyssa Iverson, Karen Howard & of course, our humongous entourage of amazingly helpful parent volunteers. We’d also like to sincerely thank the Aurora Fox for the use of the theater to put on this show! And lastly, we’d like to thank EVERYONE who came out themselves & who invited many others to come out to share in the magic of this large scale dance extravaganza!!! We are so grateful to have shared our hearts & our artistry.

After we struck the show & re-layed the marley floor back at Meadowood on Sunday evening, I was texting with Ms. Minda. It felt like a moment when we should’ve all been keeling over. But here we were, still chatting about the entire experience! And it struck me that this is what makes her, everyone on our amazing staff & all of our dancers & families so incredible. We know so completely that we all feel this same way deep in our souls that this is our mission…of creating a rich cultural landscape in Aurora and making sure that dancers for generations to come, long after we are gone, will continue to thrive in & be inspired by dance & the arts. We know that this art form and the community it creates runs so much deeper, even than these phenomenal productions we put on. But dang, if we don’t try our hardest to put on one heck of a SHOW!!!!

It’s all love…my veins still feel like they’re buzzing because I can feel all that support, love & positive energy running thru me from every person involved. And then, it’s all so much bigger than that & that’s what makes it even more rewarding, fulfilling and joyful & keeps me always wanting to come back for more & reach for new heights. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart.
