December 2025 News

Please Mr. Postman

To quote the lovely Marvelettes - Please Mr. Postman look and see, if there's a letter, a letter for me. But in this case we mean blankets and not for us, but for people to include folks just like ourselves - men, women, elders, veterans, children and babies - experiencing homelessness.

Please try and get those blankets into the mail by December 6!

Ladies in Red!

Congratulations to Sonia PItzi - a woman who not only works tirelessly supporting Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) - but the founder of red shirt day, NATIONWIDE! Red Shirt Day is a day in November when we all wear red shirts to show support for the ECYEH.

This is the second year the #memorialblanket project has supported the excellent work done by homeless liaisons like Sonia by featuring red blankets.

The women of the Upper Allen Township Women's group (represented here by Jane Nighbert, tireless blanket project volunteer), created gorgeous blankets so that kids experiencing homelessness - while in school - won't be forgotten by folks who come to see our #memorialblanket.

In the immortal words of Diane Nilan - the tireless advocate who dedicated her life to keeping kids in school even when they lose their home. "We must be an incredibly wealthy nation to throw away our children."

It came from the Land Down Under!

Once again Kim and her wonderful blanket making team at Kim's Magic Blankets have sent us a Aussie Blanket to keep someone warm and help them learn that they are not forgotten.

This lovely work of art weathered the Pacific Ocean AND a sea of tariff confusion, but will be a cornerstone of our display this year in Denver!

This year's display will be on Bannock Street, by the city county buildings in downtown Denver from 1 pm until 5:30. If you're in the Rocky Mountain time zone - head on over to add your blanket to the display!

Facebook Features

Social media sharing has been an indispensable way to grow the outreach of Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project. To make it easier for you to contribute important news to the feeds, you can use the old standby #memorialblanket to get your post directly to our social media sites. Better yet, we have the additional hashtags related specifically to unhoused children, #youthhomelessness, #babiesneedus and #babiesinhomelessness. Keep those posts coming!
