APS Board Profile - Carie Juettner

As Communication Director of the Austin Poetry Society. Carie is the "voice" of the APS gmail account, Facebook page, and website. She does her best but sometimes makes mistakes. Thank you for being patient while she fixes them.

Carie Juettner is a teacher, writer, and pet wrangler. She and her husband live in South Austin with their dog and two cats. By day, Carie teaches 7th grade English at Gorzycki Middle School. By night (and during the summer), she reads as many books as possible and writes everything from poetry to YA fiction to horror. Her work has been published in Best Austin Poetry, Daily Science Fiction, and WoW! Women On Writing, among other places.

Carie's inspiration comes from nature, her family, and her love of Halloween. She was raised on campfire ghost stories and The Twilight Zone and still enjoys a good scare. Her poems spring from walks at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the wildlife in her neighborhood. To see what's currently keeping her busy, visit her blog at cariejuettner.com.
