Nebraska Updates
The legislature has begun a special session aimed at reducing property taxes. Many of the bills proposed have potential impacts that may affect autistic individuals or their families. Some of these include the following:
LB2 is part of Governor Pillen's tax package to help reduce property taxes. It would cut 8 million in funding for DHHS for behavioral health services. It also appears to shift funding around for Developmental Disability services, which could impact services if they are not funded from reliable sources moving forward. The Autism Society opposes these cuts which will affect services Autistic individuals are able to receive. Contact your senator at the link at the bottom and let them know any difficulty you have had accessing behavioral health supports or developmental disability services.
