Welcome to the first Autism and Related Disorders Community Newsletter, a resource for individuals with Autism, families, educators, service providers, and the community at large. The Institute for Autism and Related Disorders (IARD) at A&M-SA was established in July 2022, with the intent to serve as a hub for research, and collaborate with students and faculty, while providing critical wrap-around services to the community.

To learn more visit the Institute for Autism and Related Disorders page and to learn about the enrolled degree programs working with the Autism and IDD community visit the College of Education and Human Development page.

Autism Lifeline Links (ALL)

Autism Lifeline Links is a collaborative of 14 partnering agencies that have come together and agreed to work with one another to streamline services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.

When individuals or families sign up at Autism Lifeline Links, they receive an introduction call from Jessica Rangel, the Home, Community, and School Coordinator, to inquire about current services and needs. Based on the individual needs, referrals may be sent for autism and IDD services. ALL provides lifespan support, serving birth to adults.

Sometimes families have additional needs, and because ALL is part of the Alamo Area Community Network (AACN) we can connect with other services, such as utility assistance or transportation resources.

Signing up takes a few minutes and can be done by visiting: autismlifelinelinks.org.

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities is gathering stories from people with developmental disabilities, their families, and professionals to share with lawmakers and staff to advocate for policy change. This includes funding for critical adult services such as day habilitation programs or therapy, employment, health and safety.

You can share your story until November 18th, using their online survey.
