Check out this huge beautiful garlic that our very own Gillian grew this season in her garden! It won first prize at the Perth Fair.

October is the perfect time to plant garlic as the weather is cooler. Always choose hard neck locally grown garlic for the best crops.

We grew 300 of these in our front gardens in Smiths Falls this season and I have to tell you, they were magnificent! 

Lovely salmon-orange colour, with hints of deep pink, these tulips are sturdy stemmed with huge flower heads.

Ok, full disclosure, I am trying this one this season! ( well, maybe 3 ) These extraordinary flowers can grow up to 6ft tall in the full sun.

Tall peachy pink spires are showstoppers in the garden.

Pro tip from my Mom-in-Law: make sure the planting hole has adequate drainage (add a small amount of gravel to the bottom of the planting hole as they dislike wet winter soil) Also, mulch the top after planting for extra protection.

Hardy to Zone 5 (they apparently grow in Saskatoon). I love a challenge as well as rare and unusual plants, so count me in!

This drama mama is a deep purple-black tulip that metal heads & goth kids everywhere will love!
