Reflections on the summer of 2019
As the sailing season draws to a close, it’s great to be able to look back on a successful year operationally, here at Shepards Marina in Cowes, and to thank you all for being part of that story, whether as overnight visitors or long-term residents, part of a rally stopover or staying for the 8 days of Cowes Week, one of our dry sailing customers, or an organiser of one of the many events we hold at the marina.

One of the biggest changes this year was our introduction of the new Cloud-based marina management software Harbour Assist; this has gone extremely well and is bringing benefits to customers and staff by helping to make the running of our business more efficient. The paying of invoices has also been streamlined with a new online payment system giving customers the ability to settle our invoices online with a debit or credit card.

In this newsletter, there’s information about options for winter laying up and storage - to cater to your boat storage requirements as well as any yachting, household or business storage needs - and a good read in the event write-up on this year’s Little Britain regatta, plus news from one of our onsite businesses and more.

2019 LBCC Regatta Report
Once again the great and the good of the construction industry started arriving on Thursday, 12th September at Shepards Marina for the 32nd running of the Little Britain Challenge Cup, an annual event that was borne out of one construction project (Little Britain, a street in London) whose professionals wanted to do something other than a golf day. Whilst in its heady days the regatta attracted over 200 boats it now boasts a more modest 30 to 40 boats, although is no less keenly fought over.

The event is organised by a committee of volunteers, all from the industry, and they had spent the days before the event, as usual, agonising over weather reports with each person preferring their own gospel...
