A note from Kate Scher and Samantha Vanover, co-chairs of the Points 4^th Celebration

We want to express our gratitude to the community for coming out and making this 4^th of July celebration one of the largest to date. We saw incredible turnouts for all the events, especially the 4th Parade and Picnic which was attended by over 2500! 

The financial investment from our community was truly outstanding. We raised over $30,000! This is hugely beneficial for the sustainability of the event, as our expenses exceeded $26,000. These expenses include vendors, food, beer, equipment rentals, DJs, brass band, as well as permitting, printing, insurance, EMT services and more. 

Fireworks are still on many of our minds and not out of the question, but it will take a special team effort to bring them back. The short explanation is that they have become prohibitively expensive. The fireworks alone are estimated at $20,000 and another $20,000 for barge rental. However, we are not giving up! Fireworks might be possible with early planning and financial support. To serve the cause and discuss the sustainability of fireworks, we will be forming a Points 4^th of July Fireworks Committee. If you feel strongly about bringing fireworks back to our celebration and want to help, I encourage you to join this committee by emailing us at: contact@points4th.org

It is our pleasure to serve the community and carry on this tradition year after year. We thank all of our supporters for your generosity and commitment to our neighborhood!

Swim Line Installation

A big thank you to residents David Bergey, Craig Shank and Jon Roskill for installing the Town's swim line! And Thank You Craig for removing it at the end of the season!

The Town is home to several known eagle nests and other eagle habitat. While Federal protections exist for eagles, the Town could do more in the way of protecting specific sites and making explicit the existing Federal protections for future development projects in the Town. The Town may also adopt code and guidelines which are as restrictive or more restrictive than federal and state regulations for the protection of eagles. Council and the Planning Commission are currently deliberating on ways to protect our eagles and their habitat.

Refreshed Pickleball Court!

The Town is excited to announce a new and refreshed look for the sport court!

The surface was redone, a new coating added including a trench drain on the side of the court to help absorb hillside water run off

Please respect the court and do not bring soda which can leave stains if spilled. Please remind your kids not to climb on the gate which bends it. Thank you!

Sharing Bench

The sharing bench in Sally's Alley overflowed with bounty all summer – so many organic donations. Thank you for contributing! Thank you, Steve Fleming, for the garlic scapes and thank you Jim and Laurie Bugbee for too many items to list! And thank you for keeping the bench tidy and beautiful with tomatoes and herbs growing around it!

A big THANK YOU to residents Ronni and John McGlenn for planting the most beautiful flower pots at entrance to Town Hall!

Sally’s Alley West Entrance Completed

A huge Thank You to the Park Board for their steadfast work on Phase One of Sally’s Alley! The West Entrance is now completed. In a year, after the landscaping and grass settles in, it should be a marvel for our entire neighborhood! THANK YOU PARK BOARD!

Planning Commission Agenda Topics & Reminder to Read Agenda Packets

The Planning Commission's mission is to serve as advisor to the Town Council in the review, recommendation, and development of Town land-use and policy issues. To accomplish this, the Planning Commission reviews current land-use issues facing the Town, the region, and the nation and then develops and/or reviews land-use and zoning ordinances in response to those issues. After holding public hearings to review these draft ordinances with citizens of the Town and obtain their comments on the proposed legislation, the Planning Commission forwards their draft and recommendation for action to the Town Council for discussion and possible adoption.

• Periodic comprehensive plan update
• Short term rental code and policy
• Eagle Protection (Added in May)
• Preferred and Prohibited Plants List (Added in May)

The Planning Commission relies on resident input and invites the public to attend and provide comment on future policy which shapes our Town. Without your voice, our resident leaders will not hear your input on important Town issues.  You can join in person, call in remotely, or send your comments to depclerk@yarrowpointwa.gov prior to any meeting and they will be forwarded to the appropriate board or commission.
