helen white art news

Welcome to the new format newsletter - the autumn edition - just as the leaves are starting to turn and mornings become a little crisper (the North wind was certainly blowing on my walk today).

This is the the first of what I intend to be a quarterly-or-so burst of colour into your inbox; a run down of recent and forthcoming events...aimed at art collectors, enthusiasts and those who resonate with my work. If you have received this newsletter, you will have submitted your email to my website, purchased art, attended a previous exhibition...or, perhaps, all of the above and may, of course, unsubscribe using the link.

Please also consider forwarding this newsletter to anyone you feel may enjoy the content using the button below.

So, what's new? Well, my visit to Paris during August seems a long way off as I settle back into painting and planning for exhibitions, although memories of visiting Monet's Water Lilies (above) at L'Orangerie and cycling to his home at Giverny are magical memories fuelling my inspiration.

I'm certainly back in the flow as we approach the run-up to the festive season and, with ten weeks or so to go, encourage you to make contact this month if originals or prints are gifts that you are considering. The latest date for Christmas commission bookings is 1st November and for customised and framed canvas prints of my back-catalogue the last order date 15th November.

In the meantime, there are plenty of opportunities coming up for seeing my art 'live'...
Exhibitions - from NYC to HOT

Its been an amazing year and the summer (usually my 'quiet time') was no exception as I sat working in my garden, content in the knowledge that three of my paintings were being featured in The Story of the Creative Exhibition in New York (at the See Exhibition Space) between July  - September. What a thrill and some great feedback!

Next up - The HACG Autumn Exhibition at The Old Fire Station Gallery, Henley-on-Thames 11 - 16 October with the Open View on Friday evening from 6 until 8, all welcome.

The Reading Art Exhibition 26- 27 October at St Josephs College, Upper Redlands Road, Reading RG1 5JT. There will be a feature wall of my art as part of over 400 submissions from an array of artists as well as an Art Caf and workshops.
The Frame Gallery, Odiham continues to show a selection of my work - always changing so check The Frame online or phone ahead for the current display.

Last but not least, Private Viewings are now on offer at my home studio, by appointment only, so contact me to arrange to come on over for a cuppa (and a minced pie as the season progresses...), even bring a friend or two. These viewings are proving to be an enjoyable way for people to see my paintings hanging on a 'real' wall in a relaxed and informal environment where they can compare and contrast pieces and hear about the inspiration or discuss commission ideas. Do get in touch via my website contact form if this appeals.

New paintings underway

Autumn colour is definitely sneaking its way back into my canvases, with those reds and blood oranges that I'm always drawn to at this time of the year and yet its not all sunsets and I have plenty of varied inspiration flowing.
Continuing with a favourite theme of radiance through windows, my newest painting 'Parisienne Window' captures the subtler tones of intense afternoon sunlight making playful patterns and distorted shapes as it passes through the balcony; a dance between dark and light.
These are just a taster and, with two new canvases started just today (and the inspiration of a few days in Cornwall coming up...), I feel there will be plenty of new additions before the year end so make sure you bookmark my website and keep popping back for another look.

Featured author in best selling book series
Those of you who subscribe to my blog Scattering the Light will know that writing is my other grand passion...so my next big news is that I have been approached to become a guest author for the bestselling Adventures in Manifesting series of books from world respected publishers, lska Publishing, in their next publication Soulful Relationships released at the end of next month.

My life ~ health ~ art stories are intrinisically woven together, especially since tripping upon those oil paints at the back of the cupboard in 2006 was so instrumental in my recovery from fibromyalgia, setting me off on a journey in search of wellbeing, rebalance and (my subject of heart) 'light'. What I share in this book provides insight into what and why I paint and how this journey has been the ultimate metaphor for life.

This is the story of my journey, the synchronicities and the revised relationship with self that came about as I learned to open up the bigger picture of life and it features as part of a collection of 33 inspirational and life-based stories contributed by an array of international authors from varying backgrounds. It centres on the subject of all kinds of 'relationship' - personal, professional and, not least, the life-defining one we have with the person in the mirror.

Contributors include lifestyle and health coaches, wellbeing and consciousness teachers, busy parents and life-jugglers, business entrepreneurs and keynote speakers, including one from The Secret book and blockbusting film. What an honour to find myself in such company, not to mention an encouraging shove in the direction of the self-publication adventure that I've long felt beckoning (so watch this space).

Based on reviews of previous books in the series, described as 'heartfelt', 'powerful', 'motivational' and full of 'endless inspiration', Soulful Relationships is going to be one of those coffee table or bedside books you will enjoy dipping into again and again.
