Autumn Family Fun Fest

Join us at Eaton Preserve 1 to 4 p.m., this Saturday for fall-themed fun!

3:00PM - Hula Hoop Contest @ Live Entertainment 

3:30PM - Guessing Game Winner Announcement. Must be present to win. Guesses must be made before 3:15 p.m. at the check-in table.

3:50PM - Line for inflatables closes

Other activities include family hayrides, pumpkin launching, prairie maze, pumpkin picking, petting zoo, and more. Inflatables, pumpkin patch and petting zoo require paid tickets. Autumn Family Fun Fest is sponsored by Duly Health & Care.

Park District earns national accreditation

The Plainfield Park District recently joined the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies across the country by earning accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies, and is a measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management and service to the community. 

No registration or power at PARC 

No online or in-person registration will be available September 26, as power will be temporarily shut off at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center (PARC) in order to connect a new solar field to the building. PARC will remain open with the following changes:

• Phone calls to PARC will be re-routed to the Recreation Administration Center
• No internet or email at PARC
• Limited availability for restrooms at PARC
• No electronic machines (treadmills, bikes, etc.) available in Prairie Fit
• No email for the entire Park District

Indoor Soccer/Futsal

Spots remain open for Futsal/Indoor Soccer for boys and girls, ages 3-4 and 5-6. The leagues are held 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, October 22 through December 17, at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Futsal introduces players the rules of the game, develops skills, teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship, and provides an opportunity for fun. The first two weeks are practices and the remainder of the season is games. Everyone receives a shirt. 

Preseason Basketball Skills Camp

With the season right around the corner, let us help you get ready with a preseason skills camp for ages 8-12 running Sundays, November 6 through December 11. Staff puts athletes through various skills and mini games, with each week focusing on a particular set of skills followed by games at the end of class. 

Frankenstein's Kiddie Carnival

Ghosts and goblins are wanted for a night of fun 6:30 to 8 p.m., October 14 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center! Put on your best Halloween costume and join us for carnival games, crafts and an inflatable. Fee is $15/$19 for residents/non-residents and includes 12 game tickets, crafts and popcorn. Additional tickets are available for sale on site. Pre-registration is required; no onsite registration. Sponsored by T-Mobile.

Youth Basketball Leagues

Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Practices start in December, taking time off for the holidays, with games starting in January. Early bird rate ends October 15.

Haunted Hayrides

Bone-chilling thrills abound at the annual Haunted Hayrides, running 5 to 8 p.m., October 21 and 22 at Eaton Preserve. Family friendly versions run 5 to 6:30 p.m., with scary versions 6:30 to 8 p.m. Cost is $12/$15 for residents/non-residents. Sponsored by T-Mobile.
