Welcome to our October newsletter!

There has been a real change in the weather this last couple of weeks and we can most definitely feel the light departing and the breath of winter on its way.

For some, this is a time of grieving the diminishing sunshine and activity of the summer months; others look forward to a restorative time of cosy nights by the fireside and quiet reflection. For our ancestors and their festival of Samhain, it was a time for both.

Whichever way you are inclined, this is an important season to take care of your health and wellbeing. To facilitate that, towards the end of the month, we are starting a pop-up Walk-In Wellness service at the centre, offering holistic herbal consultations, acupuncture, stress reduction, sound therapy, and MORE! Details will follow in our next newsletter

This month Bantry Holistic Centre celebrates its 10 year anniversary. To say a big THANK YOU to all our practitioners and our community, we are hosting an anniversary celebration on the 25th Oct!

Samhain

Kit Keawwantha

Samhain marks the mid-point between the autumn equinox and winter solstice and is the ancestor to our modern celebration of Halloween

For our ancestors, this was a time of honouring the natural cycles of life and death, recognising the need to release the old to make way for the new.

Although the cultural links to our ancestors have been long since severed, we can still learn how to honour these cycles in ways that are relevant today, helping to bring healing to ourselves, our communities and our lands.

Meet The Practitioner

Rosi Lalor

"I am an intuitive healing facilitator based in West Cork. I draw on a range of energy healing modalities, with a strong emphasis on embodiment, spiritual maturity, empowerment and sovereignty. I have found that the most profound changes can often be subtle, incremental, and unglamorous. I enjoy supporting clients for one-off sessions as well as regular longer term work."

What are you most grateful for?

'The people who have loved, supported, encouraged and believed in me.'.

What is the best advice you have been given?

'I am free to choose what my attention serves.'.

What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

'My friend, Regina, started laughing at me because I said something silly, We were sharing a tiny hotel room in a budget hotel that was comical in and of itself. I was doing my online check-in and saying it was weird synchronicity that [the airline] gave me the exact same seat on the return flight as my outgoing. Regina noted that I must have selected this seat at the time of booking and that therefore there was nothing mysterious about it whatsoever. 'Oh yeah.', I said, and that set her off. The shaking motion of her laughter started hurting her bad back, but that made it funnier.'.

Q & A - Have a question about your practice?

"How do you work with the Inner Critic during your mindfulness practice?"

Working with the inner critic requires discipline and compassion, combining the awareness of mindfulness with the deep inner work of meditation.

Watch the short video below from our Meditation teacher, Kit Keawwantha.

"How can I access my yoga practice with knee sensitivity?"

Props are key in modifications for yoga therapy.

This modification is not for active injuries. If you are uncertain if you should practice, consult your consultant/medical practitioner.
