The Metal Element

Autumn is the end of the cycle of the year. That which rested and gestated through the winter, grew toward the sun in the spring, manifested, matured, and flowered in the summer, and ripened and fed us in the late summer is now folding up and dropping away.

This is the time of the Metal element. The trees let go of their leaves. Life slows for this year, before the deep rest of the Water element time, but what is most valuable has been created, the seed for new life to begin. The Metal element in us learns to let go of this year’s leaves, to cut through what we don’t need anymore, and to find the essence, the seed, the value in our lives and in others.
