Cooking with Chef Brandon
Chef Brandon prepares 3 meals a day for our kids here at The Center, but our recent partnership with BJ's Charitable Foundation has allowed him to share his skills and experience with our kids through weekly cooking classes. Both our girls and boys benefit from learning fundamental cooking techniques and prepare recipes from scratch under the direction of Chef Brandon. Brandon has even been able to incorporate the produce from our CCYA community garden, introducing the "Farm to Table" aspect of cooking. The kids are loving the new cooking classes, and Brandon is getting just as much joy being able to use his culinary experience with the youth living here at The Center. The kids have prepared homemade lasagna, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, blackened fish, stuffed bell peppers, beef stir fry with vegetables over rice and more! Chef Brandon is introducing the kids to different flavors and textures as well as a variety of ethnic cuisines. We are so grateful for being awarded the grant money from BJ's so our kids can experience the art of cooking. A special thanks to Chef Brandon for teaching our kids the importance of being able to prepare foods themselves while giving them a variety of tastes!
