We are very happy to finally share news that we’ve been working on quietly for years: we have signed a collaboration agreement between Save Sight Now Europe, RetinAI, and the Institut de la Vision in Paris.

• RetinAI is a Swiss company and a leader in software for retinal image analysis and ophthalmic data, with artificial-intelligence technology already used by hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to track the progression of vision diseases and accelerate clinical trials. retinai.com
• Recently, RetinAI was acquired by EssilorLuxottica, one of the world’s major players in vision and optics, further strengthening its role as a technological hub in eye health. essilorluxottic+retinai
• The Institut de la Vision in Paris is one of the world’s leading research centres in vision diseases, including inherited retinal dystrophies and Usher syndrome itself. institut-vision.org

With this agreement:

• We will be able to better organise, analyse, and interpret imaging and clinical follow-up data from people living with Usher1B.
• We will help detect subtle patterns of disease progression that are very difficult to see with the naked eye.
• We will build a solid data foundation that can be key to designing and evaluating future treatments, including gene-therapy clinical trials and other approaches.

This November we celebrated the 3rd edition of La Nit de la Visió at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau. It was an evening full of music, stories, hugs, and above all, a shared commitment to finding a cure for Usher 1B and supporting all families living with childhood blindness.

Thanks to you, we were able to:

• Raise visibility for Usher syndrome and the reality of losing vision in childhood.
• Strengthen alliances with top-level researchers and research centres.
• Secure resources that we are already turning into research contracts and concrete collaborations, such as the agreement with RetinAI and the Institut de la Vision.

Every ticket, every table, every donation, and every sponsorship has had a direct impact on our ability to accelerate real treatments for Usher1B.

We are already working on the next edition of La Nit de la Visió: if you have ideas for sponsors, companies, or people who could join us, now is the time – your support is key to helping this event grow year after year.

Solidarity auction: bringing together new eyes and allies

This year, for the first time, we organised a solidarity auction linked to La Nit de la Visió.

The aim was twofold:

• To raise more funds for research on Usher 1B, and
• To involve new people and companies in a creative, fun, and participatory way.

The auction was run through the online platform BiddingOwl, which helps non-profit organisations organise this type of activity. From October onwards, with open bidding and a special closing during La Nit de la Visió, we offered experiences, art, wellness, culture, gastronomy, and sports collectibles – all donated by companies, artists, and supporters. La Nit also included a raffle, with great participation and the support of new companies. 100% of the proceeds will, as always, go to research projects on Usher1B.



Thanks to the auction and the raffle, we were able to:

• Engage new partners and brands who didn’t know us before.
• Create a different kind of solidarity experience: elegant, warm, and fun.
• Add another building block to the funding of the scientific projects we are now launching.

We’re preparing for a second major research contract… and we need support

A key moment: on the verge of a second major research agreement

We are at a crucial moment for the foundation. After the first major agreement with RetinAI and the Institut de la Vision, we are about to sign a second important research contract. This is great news for Usher 1B, but it also represents a very significant financial effort for an organisation like ours:

• We do not receive structural support from European or national public programmes.
• We are funded exclusively through donations, events, collaborations, and projects that we initiate ourselves...

That is why we need you more than ever:

• If you know companies, foundations, pharmaceutical laboratories, or institutions that might be interested in collaborating, sponsoring, or co-funding projects, please connect us.
• If your company has CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programmes, we would be very happy to explore ways of working together.
• And of course, we encourage you to continue supporting us with one-off or recurring donations, by organising solidarity events, or simply by talking about Save Sight Now Europe in your networks.

Every connection and every gesture counts. What today are contracts and collaborations can, tomorrow, become treatments for children living with Usher1B.

This autumn has been especially intense for Save Sight Now Europe: travel, scientific meetings, new research agreements, and the organisation of La Nit de la Visió have filled our agenda. In addition, at the beginning of October month we held our General Assembly in Switzerland.

In this GA:

• Approved the annual accounts and the use of funds allocated to research projects on Usher1B.
• Approved the renewal of the management committee.
• Updated our fundraising and scientific collaboration strategy for 2025–2026.
• Reviewed and strengthened our structure as a foundation in Switzerland and Spain, so that we remain a transparent, rigorous, and research-driven organisation.
