We’re only just starting to enjoy some summer weather so we’re not sure we’re ready to discuss autumn yet but there are some benefits to thinking ahead! Sowing hardy annual seeds in late summer/early autumn results in earlier, stronger, bigger and more floriferous plants next year; you can either sow directly into prepared beds or start them in trays before planting out. The seeds will get going in the warmth and the seedlings will do a bit of growing before winter sets in and everything slows down. By next spring your little plants will be ready to burst into action. You can, of course, also sow your annuals next spring for a long succession of flowers.

Here are some favourite annuals suitable for sowing now but for more you can have a look at our latest news page.
