A Successful Return Home!

This case started with a mom who wanted her kids back from the start, but due to a complicated family situation that brought her children into care, it took her a bit to make the progress that was needed. Eventually, with the help of her CASA/GAL volunteer, she finalized her divorce, shifted her mindset, and started to make progress in her services. She was determined to do everything asked of her—she worked hard, stayed committed, and secured housing close to her parents (who were also able to help).

Her CASA/GAL helped by supporting the children, foster parents, and the mother every step of the way. He stayed involved with the kids’ schooling, made home visits to see where the children would be living, and ensured all the right documentation was in place to show that mom was safe and ready.

At the hearing, the judge thanked the CASA/GAL first—before anyone else—and even told mom she was lucky to have him on her case. Later, the judge thanked all involved, for working together as a team to make this reunification possible. Those words spoke volumes about the impact our CASA/GAL had not just on this case, but on the lives of all the children and families we serve.

The positive outcome of this case is a true reminder of why CASA does this work and the difference that can be made when families, advocates, and the court all come together for the best interest of a child. This was a team effort—and a happy ending worth celebrating.

We could not do this important work without our amazing volunteers and generous supporters.

Thank you for all you do for CASA!

Children Helping Children!

A huge shout-out to our amazing CASA/GAL Volunteer, Lori R.!

Lori took her volunteer work to the next level by leading a group of children at her church in hosting a toy drive and a backpack and school supply collection for CASA.

It’s heartwarming to see kids helping kids — showing that compassion and community spirit start early. Thank you Lori, and these young helpers for making a BIG impact on local children in foster care!

A Generous Gift!

A heartfelt thank you to Random Acts Matter for their recent donation of several boxes of children’s clothing.

When children are removed from unsafe situations, they often leave home with nothing but uncertainty. Having something new to wear — something that fits, feels good, and belongs just to them — can make a world of difference in how they begin their journey toward healing.
Thank you!

Teachers Making a Difference!

Thank you to the West Suburban IEA-Retired Association, a long-time supporter of CASA, for their generous donation of school supplies and toiletries. These essential items are so needed by the children we serve. Your ongoing support helps us ensure that no child goes without the basics they need!

Pink Backpacks from Thoughtful Hearts!

Big shoutout to Christina and Thoughtful Hearts for donating the cutest pink backpacks and accessories! Your generosity will bring smiles and joy to the children we serve.

Thank you for making a difference!

Celebrating Fall at the
40th Annual Scarecrow Fest

Look who’s in the news! Our amazing Lucy Rivera was featured in the Aurora Beacon News during her family’s visit to Scarecrow Fest.

We love seeing our staff and volunteers actively engaging in local events. Lucy’s appearance is a reminder that the work we do isn’t just behind the scenes; it’s also about being part of the community we serve.

THANK YOU for joining us in celebrating the season with our inspirational scarecrow display at this year’s Scarecrow Fest in St. Charles! Our display symbolized how CASA Kane County helps children grow in safe, stable, and permanent homes—all thanks to the dedication of our incredible CASA/GAL volunteers.

Lead Advocate Supervisor

Amy Johnson

Board Member

Lucy Rivera joined CASA Kane County in 2019, bringing with her several years of experience in child welfare. During her role as a bilingual caseworker, she had the privilege of collaborating with numerous CASAs assigned to mutual cases. Through those interactions, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact advocacy can be on a child’s life.

Lucy provides guidance to volunteers and works alongside them to ensure children receive the most appropriate permanency options. Recently promoted to a Lead Advocate Supervisor position, she now offers support to colleagues and takes on additional responsibilities within the organization.

Lucy is a devoted mother to a teenager and two toddlers, balancing a full household with her unwavering dedication to our organization. Her commitment serves as a powerful example of stepping up wherever support is needed.

Thank you Lucy for all you do!
