Good morning

Welcome to October and the final month of this years summer market. We run through the next 4 weeks at the park, moving to the Freight Shed on November 3. Feast and preserve the last of summers bounty, while enjoying the first fall favorites. Stock up on what you love from Jyang_Lee, New Roots, and Hawkes -with us thru October only.

Goransons still has some slots in their winter CSA available, Pine Tree Poultry and Springdale Farm also have CSA's featuring their whole range of items-check them out-they can be tailored to your needs. And many of our farmers have their farm stands still open-check with them for autumn hours.

Bath's annual Autumnfest, celebrating local everything-arts, music, kids events, community gatherings begins on Friday and goes through the weekend. Fresh fennel from Tarbox to lift your spirits and brighten your meal
From our vendors-specials, s ales, seasonal

Eban at Springdale Farms has lots on sale-pork, veal, beef. Look for some osso buco, or some bratwurst to celebrate the season. And his farmstand is definitely open!

Tarbox has a bumper crop of feathery, gently flavored fennel-great in salads and braises to add a little dimension. And those fronds are good for any number of uses-try drying them for winter soup and omelet sprinkles.

Pemaquid Lobster & Seafood offers creative original versions of some pre made seafood items: Fish Pie and Scallop Casserole are both good bets
Very Nice Bartlett pears at Pleasant Pond Orchard
Borealis Breads does classically delicious baguettes in several sizes-a must have have for the crust fiends among us

Jan of Goranson sill has tasty fresh tomatoes for sandwiches or sauces, pizza or puree. Freeze them whole or quartered (if big) on cookie sheets, and use without thawing all winter-easy to slice frozen and those skins just dissolve..

Fond of your wok and Asian themed meals? Check out Westport Island Asian Microgreens, at MicroMainea -as a last add in or garnish. They don't need cooking but add a sparkle to your meals.
Simply divine shortbread cookies at Beryl's
Winter squashes are coming in-new varieties each week. Check out the Carolina Sweet at Popp Farm, that long hefty curved peachy one with a green end. Buy and freeze it cooked, or have a big party, or share it with your friends.

Pick up cider and pumpkin donuts at Chase Farm to share with your friends, wherever you find them. Nicely sized and not overly sweet, even the carb wary can enjoy these seasonal treats without major guilt.

Always a favorite, the turkey salad at Pine Tree Poultry is meaty and rightly seasoned. Make a magnificent sandwich with some tangy buckwheat walnut bread from Hootenanny-hang it together with bread and butter pickles-or spicy pickled fiddleheads-from Old Narrow Gauge Farm.
Talk to Julianne at Oyster Creek about how to cook a slice of this wild puffball mushroom
At Pleasant Pond Orchard , Clapp and Bartlett pears are here now-gone soon-so we pear addicts are picking them up fast. Larry's Macoun apples last week were especially nice too-time for pie!

Beryls bacon and asiago scones are great fro for breakfast or Sunday brunch; and do try one of those little ginger cakes with fresh whipped cream and your own applesauce.
Gentle on the tummy goat's milk is easy to transform into yogurt or kefir-check it out at Mainely Poultry

Hahns End has plenty of variety this time of year:guests from New Jersey went home with Blue Velvet, St David, and a few more!

All this rain means more mushrooms-last weeks prizes were a whole Hen o'the woods, and a mighty Puff Ball. What will this week bring at Oyster Creek ?

Over at Gracies Garden, Babushka Kraut, herbed up with dill and garlic ,makes a pleasant side for sandwiches and hearty fall stews.
Melinda & Walter, aka Bailey's Sky, will be bringing their friendly sound to the market, grab a coffee and a scone and hang there for a while on the lawn, ready to brighten your morning with melody
